Let us hear the Lord this morning
2 Co 8:5 …. they first gave themselves to the Lord, ….
Presenting ourselves to the Lord is our reasonable service.
Ro 12:1-2 … present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
Everyone has the ability to serve
1 Co 12:7 7 the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one ….:
In the Letters of Paul, there are four separate listings of the Spirit’s gifts
1 Cor. 12:27-30; 27 Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually. 28 And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues.
1 Cor. 12:4-11; 4 There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. 6 And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: 8 for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.
Rom. 12:6-8; 6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith; 7 or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches, in teaching; 8 he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.
1 Cor. 14:6
The gifts of the Spirit vary from one believer to another
1 Cor. 12:29-30 29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles? 30 Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret?
1. prophecy (Rom. 12:6; 1 Cor. 12:10, 28; cf. 1 Cor. 12:8; 14:6),

3. instruction (Rom. 12:7; 1 Cor. 12:28; cf. 1 Cor. 14:6);
4. speaking in tongues (1 Cor. 12:10, 28; cf. 14:1-19);
5. interpret speaking in tongues 1 Cor. 12:10, 30; cf. 14:5, 13
6. caring for the needy (Rom. 12:7-8):
7. serving,
8. encouraging (TEV),
9. contributing,
10. performing acts of mercy,

12. helping);

16. the ministry of the word (e.g., 1 Cor. 1:17; 4:17),
17. pastoral care (e.g., Rom. 15:25-29; Philemon),
The purpose the gifts of the Spirit is to serve ‘the common good’ (12:7), [2]
1 Co 12:7 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all:
But I’m not good enough to serve God
Is 6:5 5 So I said: “Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips;
Your sins are covered and forgiven
Is 6:7 Your iniquity is taken away, And your sin purged.”
I am not a specially talented person
2 Co 8:12 12 For if there is first a willing mind, it is accepted according to what one has, and not according to what he does not have.
The Lord Himself will equip you for the work He has for you to do
Is 50:4-7 4 “The Lord God has given Me The tongue of the learned,
That I should know how to speak A word in season to him who is weary.
He awakens Me morning by morning, He awakens My ear
To hear as the learned. 5 The Lord God has opened My ear;
And I was not rebellious, Nor did I turn away.
6 I gave My back to those who struck Me,
And My cheeks to those who plucked out the beard;
I did not hide My face from shame and spitting.
7 “For the Lord God will help Me; Therefore I will not be disgraced;
Therefore I have set My face like a flint, And I know that I will not be ashamed.
The impact we have on others when answering the Lords’ call
2 Co 2:16 16 To the one we are the aroma of death leading to death, and to the other the aroma of life leading to life.
1 Ch 29:5 Who then is willing to consecrate himself this day to the Lord?”
What will be your answer to the Lords’ call?
