Introduction: God had a plan from the beginning. Small schematic shows what we see of His plan, Large schematic is what His plan actually intells.
Jeremi
Jeremiah 29:11 KJV 1900
11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
Transition:
I. God’s plan is the right plan
A. God has thought and planned for you personally
B. God’s plan is very intricate and detailed
C. Any other plan will fail
II. His plan for you is that you thrive: “thoughts of peace and not of evil”
A. Remember why they were in the situation they were in again…they had become blind to their sin and carried away into captivity
B. God’s plan was for you to worship Him and serve Him.
You deviated from His plan and tried to make your own. How did that turn out for you
Somewhere along the way you became blind and hardened to the deceitfulness of sin and quit letting it bother you.
We like to blame all the bad situations in life on Satan, and shake our fist at God when things aren’t going our way when instead we should be shaking our fists at ourselves and taking responsiblity for our own sinful actions
C. You must remember that even while you are in a bad place in your life, God is still in control. As he was telling the Jews here to find peace in their situation, you must also learn to find peace in the middle of your situation.
i. He doesn’t intend on you stay in the situation you are in
ii. There are times you have to learn to ride out the storm knowing He is the one who is in charge.
iii. He hasn’t forgotten about you, it’s all part of His plan that you may not understand yet.
III. His plan for you is that you stay focused on Him
A. Life is difficult in it’s own right but when you couple life with sin it can get really complicated. It’s like leaving Bogata and driving in LA traffic. Tons of hazards, cars and motorcycles flying by you, sensory overload from all the flashing signs, seeing wreck after wreck and all the while your trying to stay in your lane making sure the kids are safe in the back seat.
B. God’s plan includes this and it includes you staying focused on Him.
C. His word says “ to give you an expected end” this is also translated as a future and a hope!
D. Even though they were in captivity God says, I have a future plan for you. Something that you can’t see yet but it’s going to be big! It’s going to change the world!
E. He had something for them to look forward to, even in the darkest night under the worst conditions. He tells them I know how this turns out and you will be alright!
F. Look at verse 10, and then read verse 12-14 to get the big picture:
i. Here’s what God says: After this trial that I have set for you is complete I will visit you and perform My good word toward you… (What good word. the promise that he made, I will never leave you nor forsake you)
ii. pray…He will hear
iii. seek him, find him, when you shall search will all your heart
