Do You Desire To Be Great?
Do You Desire To Be Great?
This past week while I was praying I asked God to make me GREAT. I immediately cringed and felt as if I had asked for something forbidden. But then the Holy Spirit begin to minister to my heart and show me that God wants me to desire greatness. Before you think I’ve bumped my head, I encourage you to listen to everything I have to say before drawing a conclusion of my sermon because you might just be mistaken if you don’t wait on all the facts.
42 But Jesus called them to Himself and said to them, “You know that those who are considered rulers over the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them.
43 Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant.
44 And whoever of you desires to be first shall be slave of all.
45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”
Mark 10:42-4
“Ambition in this life for greatness in this life will end up stealing your life.”
The woman who washed Jesus’ feet
3 Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands, and that He had come from God and was going to God,
4 rose from supper and laid aside His garments, took a towel and girded Himself.
5 After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded.
14 If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.
15 For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.
16 Most assuredly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master; nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him.
17 If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.
