Spending Time With Jesus - September 15, 2019

We will be reading at 4:13 when they saw The Purge of Peter and John they realize that they were on ordinary men. They were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus. Amen. The Lord is good his Mercy is Everlasting and his truth and do it to all generations. It's a blessing to be back in the house of the Lord Church. The David said in Psalms 27 verse number for he said the one thing have I desired of the Lord that will I seek after is that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life to behold the beauty of the Lord and to inquire and his Temple David wanted to be in the house of the Lord. He wanted to give thanks to God for all that. He was doing for him in his life, and he also said inquiring it still. He wanted to learn more about the Lord. So we just grateful for another time for us to come together to praise God to be grateful to God for what he's doing for us and our life but also to learn more about God a man to come together learn. So I'm grateful that want to thank all those that are visiting with us today. You truly are honored. Hope trust and pray that you hear word from the Lord that will touch your heart in such a way to make you want to know more about what God expects from us. And then we all trust and pray that you have a desire to want to live up to those expectations a man. And how do we know? It's a word from the Lord because we going to say what the Bible says to say the First Peter chapter 4 verse number 11. He said If any man speak let him speak as the Oracles of God and if any man Minister let him do it as of the ability that God give it that God and all things might be glorified through Jesus Christ to whom be praised and Dominion forever. They could say nothing against it the title of the sermon the title of the sermon today is spending time with Jesus spending time with Jesus. It's part of our preparation the preparation process for preparing us we would have us to do the Bible says in Ephesians chapter 2 verse number 10 set for we are his workmanship created in Christ. Jesus unto good works which God has before ordained that we should walk in them. God has work prepared for us to do but we have to be prepared for that work. Spending time with Jesus is part of that preparation getting us ready for the work that God would have us to do it's not just hanging out with Jesus, but it's being with Jesus learning from appreciate the time and taking advantage of the time that we have with him and learn from them. When we spend time in his word. We want to learn how we can apply this work. I like that's going to help us for the job that we would have us to do a man. Jesus said to those that believe on him and John chapter 8 verse 31 and 32 then said Jesus unto those Jews what you believed on him. He said if you continue in my word then are you my disciples indeed and you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free Jinx is expected those that would follow him to continue in this word to grow in his word to learn from his work because then you going to know the truth and the truth will make you free. The truth is not only free us from the control of seeing but the truth also frees us from the Of men men who teach false Doctrine out here and it will grab us and have control of us and lead us on the path that God doesn't want us to be on but he said if you continue in my word, it's not just hanging out with Jesus spending time with Jesus and spending time and it's word taking advantage of the time that were with him and learning from a man. And when we stay in this world now, we don't want to just come together braids. Thank God for all he's doing for us and our life and not grow in the knowledge of God. A man is going to help us now to free us from the control of men. Not only the controller controller. Jesus said in Matthew chapter 24 verse number for he said and then Jesus answered sing unto them. He said take heed that no man deceive you he's talking to his disciples now. He said for many shall come in my name saying I am the Christ and shall deceive many many are going to be deceived and he's talkin out to his disciples you taking you watch. Will be prepared because men are going to try and deceive you had a young man. Tell me he said Vincent there are so many christ-like stories and I told him he was right. There are a lot of christ-like stores idea, but I told me is only one true Messiah and Jesus said this it shouldn't be a shock to us. He said many will come in my name saying I'm too many would it be not deceived so we have to study so that we don't be deceived and he said if anybody's going to be my disciple, you truly a disciple of Jesus disciple is a learner. So we come together is not just all Fellowship. We want to open up his word study is work and learn his work. This is part of this preparation process of preparing us for the work that he would have us to do and also he equip them with the ability to do the job. You would happen to do Matthew chapter 10. Swan and what he had called them to him his 12 disciples. He gave them power against all unclean spirits to cash them out and to heal all manner of sickness in all manner of diseases. So now he gives them power gives them ability now to help others to prepare them for the work that he would have them to do and we want to know appreciate and value the time do we spend with Jesus the education that we give? What do you know how to talk to people graduate from these universities in the college and if so happy about the universities at and they give so much credit to the university because of the education and it's allowed to open so many doors for me and it's a good thing you're grateful for that someone to help do we value that education that Christ has given us. Do we value that? He's preparing us. He's preparing us for what we going to face out here in the world value that same as you can we look at it as an education from Christ. He said you couldn't be his disciples. Wish you stayed in his word learning and teaching them. Do we value the same way? We devalue some of these universities in his education. We got from the University that open up doors. So we want to grow and appreciate in value this relationship with Jesus Christ and no spending time with Christ is not just hanging out with Christ, but it's learning from her and appreciate what he's teaching. We see you and Acts chapter 4 chapter 4. They were being brought before Peter and John been brought before the Sanhedrin a council of Jews of rulers of Sadducees and Pharisees.

Sometime we can take scriptures out of context and we don't get the true interpretation. So it starts in Acts chapter 3 and I want us to take a look and see if the Vista the events are taking place to led to where we are in Acts chapter 4, so I'm going to read verses Acts chapter 3 verse 1 through 10. The Bible says now Peter and John went up together into the temple at The Hour of Prayer. Do we have time set aside for our what is really 3 in the afternoon and a certain man laying from his mother's womb was kerryon was Carrie whom they lay daily at the Gate of the temple, which is called Beautiful to ask arms of them that enter into the temple. This man was now crippled from his mother's womb all his life. He was a crippled man and they would take them and they was playing before the Gate of the temple. The gate was called Beautiful who sing Peter and John about to go into the temple asks and arms and Peter fasting fasting his eyes are on him with John said look on us. And he gave he taunted them expecting to receive something from them. Then Peter said Silver and Gold Have I None but such as I have give out ID in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk and he took him by the right hand and lift him up and immediately his feet and ankle bone receive string and he weeping up stood and walked and entered with them into the temple walking and leaping and praising God and all the people saw him walking and praising God and they knew that it was he would had set for arms at the beautiful gate of the temple and they were filled with wonder and amazement at that would have happened unto him watch this now Peter now uses his god-given ability to help the man. Not Jesus spending time with Jesus. Jesus gives him ability to heal all manner of sickness to do everything and now Peter uses his god-given ability to help the man that sitting by the gate before he preach the gospel to sometime. We said, we don't want to go out and help people and their Priests of God. We don't want to give this false then leave this faustina we out here trying to help and be deceptive but when we see the Bible when we look at the Obamas see what they did they went and they helped people then he went into the temple and you'll see if you read all chapter 3, did he preach the gospel to him, but he helped them first look he went out there helping for I know there are many examples that you see in the Bible that they just dive right into the teaching but let us not knock off the table. Let us not ignore the fact that they went out and they help people they use their ability to help people and then once they got the attention than they talk, Geez, what's the point on what Jesus prepares us to help others? Galatians chapter 6 verse 10 as we have therefore opportunity. Let us do good unto all men especially unto them of the household of faith and opportunity to do some good in this community. Some of us have special abilities and gifts and things that we can do.

The church did the people are the church not a building Peter is a member of the church Peter use his god-given ability that Jesus gave them to help others. And then once he got the spotlight. The tension when they went into the temple, he had attention on me. He didn't use it to glorify himself. He didn't use it to brag on his abilities of how we use it. Then he started talking about Jesus at the end of Acts chapter 3 any priests the death burial and Resurrection to him. Do we look for opportunities to help others? What's a pulsating 1st Thessalonians chapter 5 verse 14. He said one of them that are unruly we should warn them if it's how we do but if I see my brother sister going down the road that's leading to destruction making bad decisions and bad choices. It's how we want them. I don't have to be mean I can send somebody down and talk to him and say the decisions that you make it in life. Now. I'm going to lead you to a row that you don't want to be on weekend living out of control. I might as well say it now think she'll meet any of my friends from back in the day and they tell y'all do you can tell them I already know he got he already told them and they tell you about my out-of-control lifestyle. You can tell me you already told us. But but but we should now we should warn them that they live in an unruly like one of these decisions that you make it and it's how you do. It doesn't have to be mean-spirited. I can send somebody down and say that listening sunesis Comfort the feeble-minded some translations and encourage the discard those going to think people are dealing with things in life that dealing with situations and your family dealing with think they're not be there and give them some come and we have the ability to comfort them or yes. It was best may just need to hear the gospel and be baptized and that's it. That's not the Bible. We read we have a responsibility for the people have broken hearts broken Spirit. We should be there to 5 bring Comfort to him. Whatever our god-given ability Jesus prepares us. He prepared his disciples to help. Danny says support the weak be patient toward all men. You know, I'm learning that not just being patient sometime. I want people to get it over the lesson. I want them to get it yet baptized and just quote just immediately just like we have to learn to be patient with people a man people come and go and I learned it come back they meant so we have to learn how to be patient with people. So God spending time with Jesus now he prepares us to help others that's part of his ministry his ministry here on Earth. now when he got the tenth one. Now they got the attention we come here to ask chapter four now they got their attention because everybody here about what's this happened this miracle that just took place this man was crippled since birth and everybody knew now he's sleeping and walking around and it gave them the platform and use that platform and Acts chapter 3 to preach the gospel to death burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ and so now they laid hands on them and bring them now before Council a Council of Jewish leaders and now they want to know about what have you they want to know and question what happened what's going on what's this and Acts chapter 4 verse number 7 and when they do the rulers had set set them in the Mist they ask by what power or by what name have you done this they want to know by what Authority have you done this miracle Did Peter filled with the Holy Ghost said unto them other people the Elders of Israel if we do this Davy examine for Good Deeds Done to this Implement Man by what means he is made whole in question now about good thing. They should be thanking God for a good thing. That was done. Not a question about a good thing. He says now this He said I'm sorry to burst timer 10 be it known unto you all and to all the people of Israel that by the name of Jesus Christ from the dead man standing here before 11. He said this is the stone which is set at naught of you building which is become the head of the corner now he's quoting scripture to him. Now we scored the street. So what you come then head of the corner first number 12. He says neither. Is there salvation in any other for there is none other name under Heaven given among man. Whereby we must be safe. They noticed that but then they recognize they said they Marvel and they took knowledge of them that they had been with Jesus she spend time with Jesus and now we are to be able to go out and share with others watch this point number to Jesus prepares us to share the gospel with scripture. Peter W scripture, he knew that they knew about what what he was talking about when the stone is said and not of the builders he use scrape repairs us now to use scripture to share to the world the show to the world about who he is a man. What would Peter did now he quoted a scripture to him out of Psalms 18 and 22 Psalm 118 talking about in Psalm chapter 118. If you study it is talking about salvation coming to the Jews and a person says that the leaders are going to reject the one the Holy One of Israel. They're going to reject it like a builder rejected a stone or stone when they were put the foundation now, they will put a big Stone in a corner and build a foundation around the stone and he said that he has become they had the corner Jesus going to be the foundation of our Salvation. So when he called Peter quotes this to him he know that they understand what he's talkin about. They understand Psalm 118. And he said this is he's telling Jesus is the stone that they were talking about that y'all are going to reject see if it was prophesied that the Jewish leaders would reject the Messiah. I don't know they for Tabata day one looking but he said you would reject them it for now. They're thinking I was Jesus. The one that we were going to reject and Peter now is is is is teaching them to listen a lot of debates until this very day. The Jews Orthodox Jews are converting to Christianity. Till this very day. You still have conversion story. Do we talk to them? Are we talkin are we sharing these with the scripture and showing them how Jesus is the one who's fulfilling all the prophecy Jesus was the one that they were supposed to reject. It was supposed to reject the Messiah. They still converting to this day. Are we taking time with scripture to help them? See that? Jesus is the one he said neither. Is there salvation in any other for there is no other name under Heaven given among man. Whereby we must be safe. We know that there are many. So-called Christ stories out of here, but there was only one true Messiah and are we taking this knowledge? He prepared us now we spending time with Jesus. It was spending time in this word. We're preparing yourself for work. We not just hanging out with him. A man wish minutes out of work. Jesus said in John chapter 5 verse 39 talkin to some juice. He said search the scriptures for in them. He think you have eternal life and days are they that would testify me? He's showing now that through the scriptures the Old Testament scripture Jesus Will feeling come and be the Savior and that they would rejecting. But that he would come again. So listen, he said that Paul says to Timothy I want to go to Paul said to Timothy 2nd Timothy chapter 3 verse 16 and 17 and is profitable for Doctrine for reproof for correction for instruction in righteousness all the scriptures for us that the man of God may be sent to All Good Works. Paul was telling Timothy spend time with description use the scripture. Timothy wasn't there walking with Jesus You & I we want they're walking with Jesus, but we have the scriptures a man we can spend time in his work spending time with Jesus and we can learn how to use scripture to be prepared. So when they come we can help save your soul through the scriptures. Hey, man, just like you put something on their mind that they could not deny. They said how does he know this? How does he know about this? How does he know about that song? And how did he put it away that make us think it's Jesus the one we talked about and he had been to school with us, but he spent time with Jesus when we spend time with Jesus. We going to be a disciple. Jesus will call us out if people were with him and not learning he would call he would call it out. He said if you will be my disciple, you have to continue in my word then are you my disciples indeed we had to continue we could just be hanging out with him and not be in this world. If you go be a disciple as a learner, we have to constantly in this word and learn from it a man.

And then they get they received this this light everybody knew about it. Everybody heard about it. Everybody knew about what happened that gives you the platform we go out here and we do good works out here in the community. Will I shall we help others find ways to help others and then we get the attention and we shared scripture with him and we begin to grow everybody can see his like a light and we just give all the credit to God and let somebody said to ask chapter 4 verse 14 16, which was killed standing with him to go a side out of the council. They convert among themselves saying what shall we do with these mean for that indeed a notable Miracle have been done by them is Manifesto to all them that dwell in Jerusalem in week and not denied. Listen, everybody know about this everybody knew that this man was born.

Got it for his glory was born crippled cuz he's seeing to his family seeing or he must have done something wrong. But God knew this was going to happen. It was done for his so nobody can deny this miracle. Everybody was born crippled. Nobody could deny it and not everybody is hearing about it and it given given this spending time with Jesus will give us a light that will impact the world. Jesus said in John chapter 8 verse 12 then speak this fake Jesus again unto them saying I am the light of the world. He that follows me shall not walk in darkness will still have the light of life when we follow and spend time with Jesus and we learn in his word and we going out here and we're also spreading the gospel using the scripture you have that life. We have this light of the world and when we have that lightly it attracts opportunity and I'll share this with others Matthew chapter 5. Let your light shine before men Matthew chapter 5 verse 16 scuse me. Let your light shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your father, which is in heaven. We are instructed. We are expected to be the best you can be whatever you do. I'm at my grandmother's and tell me that he would talk about being humble will get someone to be humble holding back as not being humble. We want to let our light shine and whatever we want to be the best we do and then we give all the credit to be humble when you get all the could you let your light shine before men that they may see your good works and then you give the credit to God that's being humble playing small and holding back is not being a man. We are at week. We have been created Ephesians 2 and 10 We are his workmanship created in Christ Jesus that we should walk in them. There is work prepare for us to do but spending time with Jesus is how we get prepared for that work a man. We want to spend time in his word and he's going to give us the ability to go out and help us. We have that platform when he had that stage when we have their attention and we use a scripture to tell him about Christ. This is what they did. This is what they bring give God all the glory and all the tension spending time with you is not about just hanging out with you. It's about learning from him growing with him value in a relationship appreciate education we get with Jesus. If you have not decided yet to confess Christ as your lord and savior, I just want to add that Christ offers to us a piece that this world cannot offer us. He said to his disciples in John Chapter 14 verse number 27. He said Peace I leave with you my peace. I give unto you not as the world give give onto you. Let not your heart be troubled. Neither Let It Be Afraid. What is Jesus saying? The word doesn't have this type of piece to give to us. We're not going to find this type of Peace in the world. We're not going to find it an alcohol when I can find it in a text when I'm going to find it in money when I can find it in power or position. This world doesn't have it to offer this type of Peace only comes from Jesus a man. This type of piece can only be found in Jesus. Thank God for that piece. Then we can have peace in the middle of a storm and people are going to think what is wrong with them. Are you turn on the TV? You see all this confusion? You see all the things going in the world. How can you because I'm spending time with Jesus and that's what you tell him. That's what you share with the world cuz they going to see chaos and killing and hatred and think and you still showing love and showing a Light and Healthy because you have the Peace of Christ. And so now you you hear the word of God the death burial and resurrection that Jesus is a solution farting problem. He came there is no remission of sin without the shedding of blood. That's what God he put it in order. It has to be some blood shift, but don't worry. Your blood is not required. Jesus Paid It All Jesus already shed his blood for somebody we are to say hallelujah just for that alone. He shed his blood for us. And now that we can have a way to eternal life a man. So we hear that but now we got to believe Hebrews 11 verse number 16, but without faith. It is impossible to please him, but he did come to God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him and he looks say I mean Peter say, excuse me in 2nd Peter chapter 3 verse number 9 for the Lord is not slack concerning his promise and some poke count slackness. What is long-suffering toward us not willing that any should perish. What all should come to repentance for men him will I confess before my Father which is in heaven and whosoever shall deny me before me and him will I deny before my father's pants and we got to confess and then we have to be baptized for the remission of arsene just like they did in Acts chapter 2 on the day of Pentecost. And then what shall we do and Peter dancing Acts chapter 2 verse 38. He said repent and be baptized everyone of you and the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy So you believe you confess Christ, we we turn away from a life of sin. We live a life of Christ. We get baptized for the remission of my sins and he asked us to the church. You can read about in your Bible and we start spending time with Jesus spending time in his word and he's going to equip us and prepares for the work. He would have us to do you want to be baptized are you can come down now and get together we standing sing.
