The Body is One With Many Members

The Body is one in Christ. We all have the mission of Christ. This is to win a lost and dying world to Jesus Christ and disciple them. We must all recognize that this is the mission that unites us as a body.
If this is not the mission then you are not part of the body. If you have any other mission then you are what your mission is about. If your mission is to come together and enjoy one another’s company, then you are a social club. If your mission is to feed the poor, then you are a philanthropist. If your mission is to change the government, then you are a political party. The Mission of the church is to save the lost and disciple them.
19 [e]Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you [f]always, even to the end of the age.”
Although we are an organism with one mission we have several parts to accomplish this mission. There is not one person in a church that can fulfill the mission. This is because we do not have the same giftedness. God uses the giftedness of the entirety of the body to fulfill His mission.
Everyone in the church has a part to play. When I try to do everything, I am operating outside my giftedness and robbing others of their functionality within the body.

Everyone Has A Part In the Body

Paul explains that foot cannot say because I am not a hand I am not part of the body.
Just because you can’t do something that someone else can do doesn’t disqualify you to help fulfill the mission of the church. You are called by God to function within the church according to the giftedness that he has given you.
Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are varieties of ministries, and the same Lord. There are varieties of effects, but the same God who works all things in all persons. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.
There are times in church where we feel as if we are insignificant, because we can’t do the things that other people can do. This is not true everyone is equally important in fulfilling their task in the church. No matter how insignificant it may seem to you it is vitally important to the church.
Conversely, no one can say to another person in the church that they have no need for that person. The eye can’t say to the hand that I have no need for you. There are times in the church where we place certain roles on a hierarchy of importance. There is no function in the church that is more important than another. Paul says that those areas that seem to be weaker should have more honor. The roles that are more visible already have their honor. We should care for one another.

Suffer with the suffering and rejoice with the honored.

The make up of the body should be that when one part of the body is suffering and not functioning, the whole body should feel the suffering. For example, if a functioning part of the body falls away from the church, we all bear responsibility and should hurt. Our response should always be restoration.
When someone is honored in the church, we should all rejoice because we are all honored. The person honored did not get their honor by themselves. It was a collective effort by the entirety of the body. Therefore the body is honored along with the person.

God Placed The Members Just As He Desired

God brings people into the church to be a functioning part of the body. Whenever we have someone join the church, it is not by accident. God has caused them to be a part of the church to be a part of the functioning body.
