Don’t Be a Baby
Don’t Be a Baby
Intro: baby’s growing up fast; growing up fast for college
Paul gives the Ephesians a challenge to now grow up and grow up in unity
vs.1-6
UNITY
vs.11-13
UNITY ≠ UNIFORMITY
We are called to different roles in the Church to work together in unity
Equip the saints
vs.14-16
Grow up spiritually
Immaturity will lead to deceit
Christ is the source of our growth
vs.16 - mature unity is essential for church health
vs.17-19
Those who live a life separated from God are given over to their sinful desires
We must separate ourselves
vs.22-24
Stop trying to hold on to your old life as a sinner
You were made into a new person, put on your new self
vs.25-32
Watch your actions
The way you act should look radically different than others
We are ambassadors for Christ (); we represent Him
We were created imago dei, we should take this seriously and act like it
You might be the only experience of Jesus someone will ever see
Take the next step out of “baby-ness” and into a more mature follower of Jesus (reading the bible more, praying, talking to someone about your faith, sharing your testimony, etc.)
Think of ways in which you can show you live a different lifestyle from your non-believing friends. Is there a difference in the way you live versus how they live?
Think about what comes out in your words and actions. Think of some great ways to show Christ through our words and through our actions.
Would you consider yourself a baby Christ follower? Why or why not?
When you look at your life, can other people tell you are a follower of Jesus if they were just watching how you live?
How can we make sure we are living this way? What are some things we can do to make sure this happens?
Have you ever had any unwholesome talk come out of your mouth? Why does Paul talk so against it in this chapter?
Are you aware of what comes out of you in words or in your actions? What are some ways we can make sure we watch what comes out of us? (Make this question lead to the answer of putting away our old selves, putting on our new self, growing up in our faith, and living like imago dei.)
