> Vs 17-20. Vs. 22—25
David was made King (PROMOTION CAME)
a. David was promoted (RELATE)
b. David heads towards to take back the Land, what already belongs to Gods people.
Davids 1st step after being promoted was to gain more ground.
??? How many of us stop and cruise after we attain our promotion???
Its not time to relax its time to expand.
c. The enemy taunts David as He approaches to take back the City.
d. the enemy will always try to intimidate you out of trying
e. BUT we Do it anyway.
f. David wins the city ( the promise, what belongs to God’s people)
g. DAVID expands by working going back to the foundation 1st and then HE BEGAN TO WORK INWARD.
RECAP * Promotion
* GO and get what is yours that the enemy has stolen,
* THERE WILL BE A FIGHT.
After you win, then begin expanding from the inside out tending first to your foundation. JESUS IS the PILLAR of foundation and the HOLY SPIRIT is who helps us work on the inside.
NOW THAT YOUR FOUNDATION IS SET AND YOURE BEING CHANGED FROM THE INSIDE OUT THE ENEMY WANTS TO COME SQUASH IT.
READ VS 17 again.
1. WHEN THE ENEMY HEARS OF YOUR PROMOTION HE WANTS TO CAPTURE YOU,
WHY CAPTURE? WHY NOT KILL?
BECAUSE IF HE CAPTURES YOU HE HAS AUTHORITY OVER THE GROUND YOUVE GAINED. When you're a hostage, you can be held for ransom and you're authority is taken and your people suffer the hurt until
When we are in sin, we are the hostage and the enemy has authority over the ground we've gained, and our loved ones and people who look up to us suffer the most.
2. DAVID GOES INTO THE STRONGHOLD TO SEEK THE LORD vs 17.
stronghold: HIS secret place with GOD, somewhere he can worship the Lord away from the clamor of the enemy.
a. vs 19, DAVID ASKS THE LORD IF HE SHOULD FIGHT. “are you going to hand them over to me” DAVID recognizes HIS need for the POWER OF GOD!!
b. we need to seek God and ask, “Do i fight” “Do I wait” “Do I do this or do I do that?”
WHEN YOU FACE THE ENEMY, YOU’D BETTER HAVE GOD ON YOUR SIDE!
3. WHEN GOD SAYS GO!! (repeat)
PEOPLE…. WE NEED TO KNOW WHEN TO GO and WHEN its NO!!
a. DAVID in this story gets a green light from the LORD and they defeat the philistine army.
DAVID SAYS “HE BURSTS THROUGH MY ENEMIES LIKE A RAGING FLOOD!!”
So David named the town Baal-perazim- Which means
THE LORD BURSTS THROUGH!!
HOW many need GOD to burst through?
4. But after a while (everybody say)…. READ VS 22- 25 again.
the enemy is persistent, ARE YOU?
the enemy has strategy, DO YOU?
are you gaining ground or is the devil gaining ground?
a. This time GOD gives strategy to circle around the enemy.
and WAIT FOR THE SOUND!!!!!
THE WORD CIRCUMSTANCE MEANS ENCIRCLED.
DAVID and HIS army were no longer in their circumstance they had turned the tables and surrounded the enemy.
THEN THE SOUND CAME and THE LORD WENT AHEAD OF DAVIDS ARMY and they had yet another victory!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
