Problem

Everyone has gifts, we just don’t all use them for the Glory of God

Motivation

Judgment is coming, there is work to do

Gospel Fix

We can be selfish with our gifts/service, but Jesus didn’t come to be served but to serve; to give his life as a ransom for many. His grace toward us should compel us to give ourselves away in service to one another. But we can’t do this alone. Without the power of the Holy Spirit we are left to serve only ourselves. Once we are freed by the Gospel, we can feel the love God has for those around us and begin to die to ourselves and serve others.

Kingdom Outcome

Through Jesus God is glorified. Through our service people are shown the truth of the Gospel.

Connection

When we serve others we are self controlled and sober minded (v7)
When we serve others we offer earnest love to others (v8)
When we serve others we show hospitality to one another (v9)
When we serve others we are good stewards of God’s varied grace (v10)
When we serve others we bring glory to God (v11)
