3 Realms of Discernment

https://www.blueletterbible.org/faq/don_stewart/don_stewart_151.cfm

1. Natural Perception: Discernment of the Natural

The dictionary defines discernment as ‘the ability to judge well’. So at the most basic level of discernment:We can see the external of what is happeningWe also have wisdom and perception about what’s taking place behind the scenes

2. Spiritual Perception: Discernment of 2nd Heaven

The second level of discernment is a heightened ability to discern. I frequently hear from people who are experiencing this second level of discernment, and who are having a difficult time knowing what to do about what they are sensing.Signs of this level of discernment include:Being tuned into people’s motivesPerceiving the spiritual realmBeing sensitive to atmospheres (both spiritual and natural)The ability to discern the demonic realm and spiritual realities

3. 3rd Heaven - Seeing from God’s Viewpoint…Seeing as Father Sees

Who Needs Discernment
Ezra 7:25 NKJV
25 And you, Ezra, according to your God-given wisdom, set magistrates and judges who may judge all the people who are in the region beyond the River, all such as know the laws of your God; and teach those who do not know them.

Job 12:12–13 NKJV
12 Wisdom is with aged men, And with length of days, understanding. 13 “With Him are wisdom and strength, He has counsel and understanding.

Ephesians 3:10 NKJV

The list is long, but the way to get it is short!
1 Corinthians 2:9–16 NKJV
9 But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” 10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. 11 For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. 13 These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one. 16 For “who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.

Take Aways

We’re supposed to have and know something that others don’t have and don’t know v 6 ‘we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age.”
Wisdom To Discern With...
v. 7 but we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages This wisdom can’t be seen w the natural v.s 9 “eye hasn’t seen nor ear heard nor entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him”
True wisdom, true discernment ONLY comes from God and it takes Him to give it to us
There’s an option for what may appear to be wisdom vs. 12 “we have not rec., not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God
When we report our discernment, it’s not us speaking vs. 13
Spiritual folk are supposed to do spiritual things
Wisdom To Discern With...
Life Application Bible Commentary, Matthew Jesus Teaches About Fruit in People’s Lives / 7:15–20 / 66

Discerning truth from error, wisdom from falsehood, and right from wrong takes lots of time and maturity, yet we are called to make such judgments daily. Here’s a plan:

• Avoid firm opinions made alone. It is better to run your ideas through a group of intelligent, trustworthy Christian friends and mentors. Friends keep us from crackpot ideas and guide our maturing mind and heart.

Reminder: You cannot separate the prophetic from discernment. Different as they may be, they’re closely akin.
Discernment is me trying to get God’s perspective on a matter without having to have a history or experience in the matter.
You can’t separate the prophetic from discernment.
(prophetic) knowing what you don’t know how you know (knowledge)
(discernment) now that i have this, what do i do with it?
(prophetic) “The word of the Lord says...”
Wisdom is the quality of having a good judgement based on knowledge. It is popularly known as the ability to discern. If knowledge is power, wisdom is your choice to use or apply that power. Understanding is the ability to understand one's knowledge and choices.
On how to obtain them
To gain knowledge, one has to spend time and effort to know things by reading, listening, seeing, experiencing, studying, and getting familiar with certain things. Without interest or passion, one can hardly acquire knowledge.
To gain wisdom, one has to have knowledge first, and then use conviction to make a good judgment out of that knowledge. Without strength, courage, and confidence to make a decision, one cannot gain wisdom. No matter how intelligent or knowledgeable a person is, if he cannot distinguish what is right or wrong, he cannot be considered as a wise person.
To gain understanding, one has to have both knowledge and wisdom first, and then put them into action. He has to know, make a choice, and then practice that choice he has made. Without practicing and executing one’s knowledge and choice, he cannot truly understand or realize them. In order to have wisdom, you have to walk your talk. You have to do what is right, not just know it or judge it.
To gain insight, one has to have all of the above: knowledge, wisdom, and understanding. By persistently practicing and reflecting on them, one can gain insight and have more certainty of the future. Without patience, self-control, perseverance, and consistency, you can hardly develop insight.

Galatians 5:19–21 NKJV
19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
