More Tests

Phillip- where can we find enough food to buy?
it’s impossible…
The Men learned that they had nothing to offer the people
and the utter sufficiency of Jesus / the men were messengers of what Jesus gives
V 14 they were going to make him king
this was a test that the disciples would join the crowd
they had the same mind set
also saw Jesus as King
He could feed us, heal us, kick out the Romans
doesn't the prophets say the Messiah would be King ?
they wanted the gift not the giver
we are servants not dictators
the people wanted Jesus to be king for what they could get out of Him
So Jesus sent the disciples away
The kingdom Jesus came to establish is the kingdom of Heaven, in our hearts
Mark 6:45 AV
And straightway he constrained his disciples to get into the ship, and to go to the other side before unto Bethsaida, while he sent away the people.

The Storm

Jesus sent them into the storm
storms are sent to correct us -Jonah
storms give us a new level of Faith
after the feeding miracle,High
a new storm of trials
each storm increases our faith, and courage our trust in Jesus
Last time in the storm, Jesus was in the boat
During the storms we are closest to Jesus
in the calm “I can handle this”
So Jesus sends us storms
Mark 6:52 CJB
for they did not understand about the loaves; on the contrary, their hearts had been made stonelike.
the bread and fish sailed right over their head
it took another storm for them to realize who Jesus was
Matthew 14:33 CJB
The men in the boat fell down before him and exclaimed, “You really are God’s son!”
So here they are out in a storm
The headwinds caused the to pull hard on the oars
Keep rowing is all they could do/ turn and capsize

Jesus Is Watching

The Omnipotence of God
The Imminence of God
Mark 6:46–48 AV
And when he had sent them away, he departed into a mountain to pray. And when even was come, the ship was in the midst of the sea, and he alone on the land. And he saw them toiling in rowing; for the wind was contrary unto them: and about the fourth watch of the night he cometh unto them, walking upon the sea, and would have passed by them.
The men were rowing, Jesus was watching, and praying
Jesus is right here, always
Isaiah 30:18 AV
And therefore will the LORD wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the LORD is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him.
At the right moment Jesus will rescue you
He is not sleeping, he is watching.
talk to him in the storm, tell Him your thoughts, feelings, how tired you are to keep on rowing
trust that He will not fail you
Sing
Stop complaining! murmuring is fighting against God
V 19 At the right moment Jesus comes walking along
they took Him into the boat

Instantly They Were On The Other Side

storm was over
safe on land
the impossible was accomplished
at this point they realize this is God

Keep Rowing

as we are going through storms remember
Because Jesus loves us He is causing this storm
The Father loves me so much, and wants me to be like Jesus
That the best way that I can become, is to go though this storm
The Holy Spirit is with us, encouraging us, changing us,
Jesus is watching and praying
we need to just keep rowing
Good when He gives, supremely good Nor less when He denies: Afflictions, from His sovereign hand, Are blessings in disguise
