Jesus Calls

Jesus called his 12 disciples. He had been with them long enough to know his mission to evangelize the world. They had seen him do miracles, heard his teachings, and knew Him as the Son of God. They were prepared to go do the work of the Lord.
This is something that Christians need to know today. They are called to the same mission to evangelize the world. If you have been following Jesus for a while, then you know this. Jesus has not saved us just to go to church. He has saved us to lead people to Him.
Jesus affords us many opportunities to do this. We have a sphere of influence that we live in. It begins in our home. Does every member in your household have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ? What about your extended family? Have you shared the gospel with them? You have friends that you hang out with. Are they following the Lord. Some people work a job. Do your coworkers know Jesus? I think you get the point. The question is what are you doing with the calling God has given you?

Jesus Gives

Jesus gave the disciples the power to cast out demons and heal the sick. These were the tools that were necessary to accomplish the mission Jesus called the to.
Jesus gives us everything we need to accomplish everything he has called us to do.
To those who have received a faith of the same [b]kind as ours, [c]by the righteousness of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ: Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord; seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us [d]by His own glory and [e]excellence. [f]For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust.
Your faith in Christ brings you everything you need pertaining to life and godliness. God has given you everything you need to fulfill His purpose. His promises come true when we walk in faith by them. When we walk by faith in the promises of God we become partakers of the divine nature. This allows us to experience God in ways that go beyond logic and reason.
We would be well served to recognize that God has given us power to accomplish His mission. This alleviates fear. Fear comes when God calls us to something and we look to ourselves to get it done. We cannot get it done. We must understand that God has given us power to accomplish His mission

Jesus Sends

Jesus sent his disciples out to preach the gospel. He did not promise them that everyone would accept the gospel. As a matter of fact He told them that there would be people that would not listen to the gospel. He instructed them to keep moving when people would not listen to the gospel.
When Jesus sent they went! Can you imagine the first town they came to? What were the people going to think. Or will this demon truly leave when I command it to? Or what if I lay hands on someone to get well?
I imagine the more they went, the more they experienced the hand of God. The more they experienced the hand of God the more confident they became.
We too can grow in our faith when we go where Jesus sends. My journey as a pastor continues to evolve in my faith growing. I never believed that I could be a pastor because I did not go the normal track of a pastor. When God called me, He equipped me, and I continue to see what He is able to do with someone who has nothing to bring to the table. This builds my faith.
I want to encourage you to step out in faith and go where God calls you. You will be amazed at what He will do when you walk in his promises!
