Three places to look when things don’t look good ()

THE OVERVIEW OF THE CHAPTER: This chapter is one of encouragement and exhortation to those who are under the chastening hand of God. It especially promised hope for the captives of Israel and for the final deliverance by God from captivity.

Look at where you came (vs 1)

Isaiah 51:8 KJV 1900
For the moth shall eat them up like a garment, And the worm shall eat them like wool: But my righteousness shall be for ever, And my salvation from generation to generation.
isaiah 51:1
Isaiah 58:1 KJV 1900
Cry aloud, spare not, Lift up thy voice like a trumpet, And shew my people their transgression, And the house of Jacob their sins.
Analytical Bible Expositor: Isaiah to Ezekiel 2. The Perspective for Comfort (Isaiah 51:1–3)

The beginnings of the Jewish race were not impressive to man’s eyes, but look at the great results. An old man and a barren wife (“hole of the pit”) were not promising, but God produced a great race from them. Therefore take comfort that God can still do wonders when the situation is very bleak and to man’s eyes is not promising.
