HOW DO I KNOW THAT I WILL GET TO THE END? 1 Peter 1:13-25
HOW DO I KNOW THAT I WILL GET TO THE END? 1 Peter 1:13-25
HOW DO I KNOW THAT I WILL GET TO THE END?
We cannot have the kingdom of God AND the kingdom of this world TOGETHER
We cannot have the kingdom of God AND the kingdom of this world TOGETHER
Christianity cannot be made palatable to the world.
The gospel changes us – how we see things and make since of things.
How we deal with the confrontations to our faith.

The above tells us that there will be a great falling away—- the basis of this is deception.
· The above tells us that there will be a great falling away—- the basis of this is deception.
This is why feelings of indifference and the absence of a growing (however small it may be) sense of love and hunger for Jesus should rattle us- if just only a bit.
· Upon hearing this my thoughts went to you- RLC.
· What appeared strong was actually straw
“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock.
And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.
·
And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”
· The Foundation
· I learned two things this week that have reminded me about the seriousness of Life
Peter begins with the word – Therefore in verse 13
Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
· What a great salvation
to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you,
o It is an inheritance that is
§ imperishable,
§ undefiled,
§ unfading
§ kept
If you believe in Jesus the inheritance is Yours – RIGHT NOW
BUT FAITH - not just a belief. It speaks to the whole of my life: EVERYTHING IS GOVERNED AND MY SOUL IS GUARDED BY FAITH.
IF I AM TO BE SAVED, IN THE END, FAITH MUST PERSEVERE
THOSE WHO ENDURE TO THE END WILL BE SAVED
But the one who endures to the end will be saved.
And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
-
- THOSE WHOSE FAITH ENDURES
Holiness is the proof that I belong to the Lord.
I. RIGHT THINKING ABOUT THE TRUTH
I. RIGHT THINKING ABOUT THE TRUTH
Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
“Pull your thoughts together. Don’t let anything hinder your mind as you put it to work for God.” In other words, have a disciplined mind

A. WHO GOD IS
A. WHO GOD IS
1. GOD IS HOLY
1. GOD IS HOLY
but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct,
Isaiah 6:1-3
In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple.
Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew.
And one called to another and said:
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts;
the whole earth is full of his glory!”
2. GOD IS TO BE FEARED
2. GOD IS TO BE FEARED
And if you call on him as Father who judges impartially according to each one’s deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile,
trepidation
honor
B. THE VALUE OF THE WORK OF CHRIST
B. THE VALUE OF THE WORK OF CHRIST
knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold,
but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.
C. THE AUTHORITY AND SUFFICIENCY OF THE WORD OF GOD
C. THE AUTHORITY AND SUFFICIENCY OF THE WORD OF GOD
since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God;
for
“All flesh is like grass
and all its glory like the flower of grass.
The grass withers,
and the flower falls,
but the word of the Lord remains forever.”
And this word is the good news that was preached to you.
II. RIGHT LIVING ACCORDING TO THE TRUTH
II. RIGHT LIVING ACCORDING TO THE TRUTH
A. Dont Live the Life You were Delivered From
A. Dont Live the Life You were Delivered From
As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance,
B. Live the Life of God
B. Live the Life of God
but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”

SUFFERING COMES TO TEST HOLINESS
ISOLATION COMES TO TEST HOLINESS
WHAT IS GOSPEL HOLINESS?
WHAT IS GOSPEL HOLINESS?
Balance out these thoughts:
Ensure to the end
Kept by the power of God.
· The above tells us that there will be a great falling away—- the basis of this is deception.
This is why feelings of indifference and the absence of a growing (however small it may be) sense of love and hunger for Jesus should rattle us- if just only a bit.
TRIALS COME TO TEST OR TEMPT TWO THINGS ABOUT US
· Upon hearing this my thoughts went to you- RLC.
· What appeared strong was actually straw
· .
· The Foundation
· I learned two things this week that have reminded me about the seriousness of Life
· Lest you think o mean this life o mean eternal life is serious
· Peter is keeping them from falling away.
BODY STUFF
· Prepare your mind
“Pull your thoughts together. Don’t let anything hinder your mind as you put it to work for God.” In other words, have a disciplined mind
Walls, D., & Anders, M. (1999). I & II Peter, I, II & III John, Jude (Vol. 11, p. 11).
· Two thoughts will be attacked.
· (FIRST STUFF) KNOW THIS: the two kingdoms cannot coexist. See text.
o When you begin to try to make sense of your circumstances from the perspectives of this life your faith will fail and your life will be tragic
POINTS
HOLINESS OF THE MIND
· The truth of who God is
o God is Holy
o God is to be Feared
§ Trepidation
§ Honor
· The Authority of the Word of God
· The value of what Jesus accomplished.
HOLINESS OF THE LIFE
1. Do not be what you were delivered from
2. Be like the one who delivered you
KEPT
Centrality is the Word
Guild up the loins. Gather your thoughts: don’t give in to the looseness it biblical authority
.
They are like lions beetle jackels: one must give way to the other.
This ALL has to do with our view of God.
Peter says this: don’t act like God is soft, flexible or thinks like us.
Don’t think of God’s love as mushyp
