Why Lead?

Lead: To go before others. To teach and direct others. To model how to live, be and act.
Good leaders are good followers. Bad leaders are bad followers
The world needs leaders.
Our person needs a Godly leader.
Our homes need Godly leaders.
Our workplace needs Godly leaders.
Our Churches need Godly leaders.
Our community needs Godly leaders.
Our state and country need Godly leaders.
The world needs Godly leaders.
People are looking for superheroes a good leader is a superhero
God knows our need and has made provision.
We were created to lead. Birthed with this purpose.
Genesis 1:26–28 NKJV
Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
Genesis
We are leaders by nature. We were created in God’s image and likeness. God is a leader.
When God created us He gave us dominion.
The word dominion means "to become powerful” “To Plough” “Rule” “Travel” “Journey”
Deuteronomy 28:13 NKJV
And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you today, and are careful to observe them.
Exodus 15:13 NKJV
You in Your mercy have led forth The people whom You have redeemed; You have guided them in Your strength To Your holy habitation.
God has always used people to lead people!
Exodus
God is looking for people who will hear the calling and say yes!
God has laid the groundwork.
He created us. We are His and He is ours. God created the garden for us to work and take care of. God released Adam and Eve into the garden with freedom to name all the animals, to tend to the garden. But the one thing God asked Him to do he failed.
But man failed!
Isn’t that the condition so many of us feel trapped in? we tried but we failed. we are tempted to give up. But God calls us to lead from a place of failure to victory!
Questions:
Questions:
Where are you a leader? What spheres are you influencing?
How am I doing as a leader? What are my struggles?
What is my plan to overcome the struggle?
He created us. We are His and He is ours. God created the garden for us to work and take care of. God released Adam and Eve into the garden with freedom to name all the animals, to tend to the garden. But the one thing God asked Him to do he failed.
But man failed!
Isn’t that the condition so many of us feel trapped in? we tried but we failed. we are tempted to give up. But God calls us to lead from a place of failure to victory!
2 Corinthians 2:14 NKJV
Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.
2 Corinthians 10:5 NKJV
casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,
We need men and women who are not going to allow failure to hold them back but that understand it is for this day That God has called you! To lead from lack to plenty!
Genesis 4:6–7 NKJV
So the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.”
Today will you say Yes?
Are you willing to commit to His call? It will cost you!
2 Timothy 2:12 NKJV
If we endure, We shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us.
Hebrews 2:5–9 NKJV
For He has not put the world to come, of which we speak, in subjection to angels. But one testified in a certain place, saying: “What is man that You are mindful of him, Or the son of man that You take care of him? You have made him a little lower than the angels; You have crowned him with glory and honor, And set him over the works of Your hands. You have put all things in subjection under his feet.” For in that He put all in subjection under him, He left nothing that is not put under him. But now we do not yet see all things put under him. But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone.
Revelation 20:4–6 NKJV
And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years.
Jesus paid the price and defeated the death and sin.
Today we are to walk in His way! His way is death and sin are defeated.
everything that stands in the way of Victory must be torn down.
Leaders are called for this very task.
2 Corinthians 2:14 NKJV
Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.
2 Corinthians 2:13 NKJV
I had no rest in my spirit, because I did not find Titus my brother; but taking my leave of them, I departed for Macedonia.
2 Corinthians 10:5 NKJV
casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,
2 Cor 2:13
Now that we understand this its important to understand that there are several obstacles that we need to overcome.
In the perfect setting of the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve were naked. Fully exposed. When sin came in they realized their nakedness and proceeded to cover it. Shame entered the heart of man.
1. sin produced shame: In the perfect setting of the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve were naked. Fully exposed. When sin came in they realized their nakedness and proceeded to cover it. Shame entered the heart of man.
1 John 1:9 NKJV
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Leaders must be good at repenting!
Romans 10:11 NKJV
For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.”
They tried to cover it instead of taking it to God.
We need courageous leaders who wont back down and hide their shame but who will bring it to God and see God do an amazing work.
Leaders must be willing to have the tough conversations.
Question:
How am I at having tough conversations? Do I avoid conflict?
Sin Brought Pain: We try to hide our hurt and pain. In the hope that if it is concealed no one will know and we fake it like all is good.
example: King Saul
Genesis 4:6–7 NKJV
So the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.”
Genesis 4:13 NKJV
And Cain said to the Lord, “My punishment is greater than I can bear!
Genesis 4:6–7 NKJV
So the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.”
Leading will always produce pain. How we respond to our pain determines if we overcome it or if we are overcome by it.
Leaders must forgive quickly and well.
Question:
Where does it hurt? How am I handling it?

There are different levels of leadership
There are different levels of leadership
We need to be good leaders of ourself and others. And good stewards of God’s Kingdom that is in us. Its a garden that produces life in abundance but we must nurture the Garden of God! To feed us and others.
The First step is Following. Before Jesus called them disciples He first called them to follow Him.
self leadership
John 8:12 NKJV
Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”
Question:
How is your relationship with God? How intimate are you with God?
Genesis 4:6–7 NKJV
So the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.”
God first wants to heal you! (you were never meant to be the sacrificial Lamb. Christ did that for you!)
How do you lead yourself? Self control, do you have dominion over your mind, emotions, or are you given to your own desires? We lead ourselves by the choices we make everyday. by what we allow in and what we don’t allow in our lives. There is a lot that is going on inside each of us.
Mark 8:34 NKJV
When He had called the people to Himself, with His disciples also, He said to them, “Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.
Fellowship: Leaders must be in fellowship
This process isn’t a journey you go on alone. God again uses other people to walk with us to help us in our healing process.
James 5:16 NKJV
Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
Are you alone? Who are you walking with?
Are you alone? Who are you walking with?
2
How do yo lead your spouse? is there a unity and is there a mutual agreement and direction you are following?
Are you growing? growth is a sign of leadership. It means there is proper care given.
If you aren’t preparing yourself to lead better then you are setting yourself up for defeat.
Dominion implies struggle. There is a process that needs to happen.
Philippians 2:3–4 NKJV
Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.
Phillipians 2:3-4
Proverbs 22:29 NKJV
Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings; He will not stand before unknown men.
Question:
What am I intentionally doing to become a better leader?
1 Chronicles 12:32 NKJV
of the sons of Issachar who had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do, their chiefs were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their command;
Philippians 2:3–4 NKJV
Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.
