Big Idea: Lamenting over God’s chastisement keeps our focus on God’s grace rather than our disrupted plans.

1 Chron 29:14-16
14 “But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able thus to offer willingly? For all things come from you, and of your own have we given you. 15 For we are strangers before you and sojourners, as all our fathers were. Our days on the earth are like a shadow, and there is no abiding. 16 O Lord our God, all this abundance that we have provided for building you a house for your holy name comes from your hand and is all your own.
13 These all died in faith, not having received the things promised, but having seen them and greeted them from afar, and having acknowledged that they were strangers and exiles on the earth. 14 For people who speak thus make it clear that they are seeking a homeland. 15 If they had been thinking of that land from which they had gone out, they would have had opportunity to return. 16 But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city.

Seek God’s grace as the source of your joy
The Woods are taking a month of vacation after a very hectic and trying summer with 2 jobs and then trash pickup this fall. We appreciate their desire to seek to bless our church and their strong love for spreading the Gospel in our community. After the month, he will be resigning and they will be seeking God's direction for what's next for them. We're planning on giving them a gift for their many years of service and dedication on October 27th. Please be in prayer for the Woods during this time.
