Do we trust Him?
Proverbs 3:1-
1–2  3 Good friend, don’t forget all I’ve taught you;
take to heart my commands.
They’ll help you live a long, long time,
a long life lived full and well.
3–4  Don’t lose your grip on Love and Loyalty.
Tie them around your neck; carve their initials on your heart.
Earn a reputation for living well
in God’s eyes and the eyes of the people.
5–12  Trust GOD from the bottom of your heart;
don’t try to figure out everything on your own.
Listen for GOD’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go;
he’s the one who will keep you on track.
Don’t assume that you know it all.
Run to GOD! Run from evil!
Your body will glow with health,
your very bones will vibrate with life!
Honor GOD with everything you own;
give him the first and the best.
Your barns will burst,
your wine vats will brim over.
But don’t, dear friend, resent GOD’s discipline;
don’t sulk under his loving correction.
It’s the child he loves that GOD corrects;
a father’s delight is behind all this.
How many remember growing up and doing the trust fall?
I remember doing it?
I can remember just a few short months ago it was all over facebook
People posting videos of them doing the trust fall
Someone falls backwards and their friend is supposed to catch them
They even got really creative and would stand on a table or chair and two or three friends would catch them as they were free falling backwards
The best one was a group of kids got together and they were going to do it as a group, the kid was standing there and one of his friends was behind him waiting on him to fall backwards.
The one who was falling was supposed to close their eyes and truly trust the person to catch them
Here is one that did not go so well
I have heard a saying
Trust is the easiest thing in the world to loose, and the hardest thing in the world to get back
When we are talking about human nature, that is true.
And we has humans try and take that same approach when dealing with God
We want to keep Him at arms length away
We done want to let him get close
We are so afraid He will let us down like everyone else we let get close
But I must let you know today God is nothing like us humans.
God is the one we can truly trust
When Abraham was asked to sacrifice his son, Abraham was obedient to God
Abraham trusted that God would make a way or God would bring his son back from the dead
Genesis 22:7-
Genesis 22:
Abraham trusted God to provide
Communication breads trust
Abraham had a prayer life.
And because Abraham talked with God and God talked back there was trust.
If you are struggling with trust, I must ask how is you communication with God.
Do you have a consistant prayer life?
Do you talk to him everyday?
Or are you one who only talks to him when you need something
Isa
The word “faith” appears only twice in the KJV translation of the Old Testament.
This is not because people in this era had no faith, as can be seen in Rather, the word frequently used in the Old Testament to represent what the New Testament knows as faith is translated as trust.
A supreme example of a person of great faith who trusted in the lord with all his heart is Job.
Job was a man who faced the worst of the worst and yet the bible says he never charged God foolishly.
Oh how I want to pattern my life after Job.
