Intro

Mike Rowe - Muffin Monster

Passage

John 9:1–7 ESV
1 As he passed by, he saw a man blind from birth. 2 And his disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” 3 Jesus answered, “It was not that this man sinned, or his parents, but that the works of God might be displayed in him. 4 We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day; night is coming, when no one can work. 5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” 6 Having said these things, he spit on the ground and made mud with the saliva. Then he anointed the man’s eyes with the mud 7 and said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which means Sent). So he went and washed and came back seeing.
John 9:1-
Lord, who should we blame for this man’s struggle?

Seeds grow in dirt. (Don’t blame the seed or blow off the responsibility)

John 9:3 ESV
3 Jesus answered, “It was not that this man sinned, or his parents, but that the works of God might be displayed in him.
John 9:
Instead of asking who? We should ask what, as in what are you doing God?

Seeds grow supernaturally! (We’re responsible for digging, burying, and watering. God gives the growth)

9:8–12 He who said, “Let there be light!” now says, “Let there be sight!” The spit and clay used in this miracle echo the elements of the first creation (Genesis 1–2). Even more profoundly, they also announce that, in Jesus, the new creation order has arrived. He who created man from dust now uses dust to restore him. The “sent one” (Jesus), sent the healed one to the pool of “Sent” (Siloam). He who was sent into the world to lift the curse of sin is here. Superstition is trumped by the truly supernatural, and the saved are sent in witness.

Beautiful flowers and plants were seeds at one time and “grow” to tell a story and to be put on display.

Jesus tells the man to go and wash, into the pool called Siloam which means “sent.”
Sound familiar? After we encounter Jesus our next step of obedience is baptism and what is baptism a representation of? Being made new. And what does it do? I’m glad you asked. Let’s check out the rest of this man’s story.

Instead of stopping…what if He kept walking?

We’ve got to do a better job of first being made new and seeing Jesus like He really is, AND THEN…will we be able to see others the way they REALLY are.
Ephesians 2:10 ESV
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
Dismissal.
