1) INTRODUCTION

A. Who was Asaph

Chief of the Levites appointed to minister before the Ark of the Lord.
He and his brothers were part of the music portion of worship at the Tabernacle.
He was a seer or prophet of God
If David wanted to hear from God he would meet with Nathan the prophet; if he wanted to worship God he would meet with Asaph the Levite.
Asaph was a giant in the faith

B) Giants in the faith can struggle in their faith

The hardest thing to do in the universe is to life by faith.
Living by faith is completely unnatural

Faith goes against the mantra of the world - I wont believe until I see.
Faith is the opposite
2 Corinthians 5:7 KJV 1900
(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
What does it mean to walk by faith and not sight - Moves us to:
Cain - Offered an acceptable sacrifice
Enoch - Living a peculiar life
Noah - Believing God’s judgement
Abraham - leave a land for an unknown land
Sarah - believe the promises of God
These people were moved by faith because they were persuaded the promises of God were true; even though they did not receive these promises.
Faith employed:
Israel crossing the raging Jordan River
David going into the valley of Elah to defeat Goliath
The church waiting for the power of God
The repentant thief on the cross
The walls of Jericho
