Hebrews 5:11–14 NIV84
11 We have much to say about this, but it is hard to explain because you are slow to learn. 12 In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! 13 Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. 14 But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.
1 Corinthians 13:11 NIV84
11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me.

1. God is looking for men to further His kingdom

2. We have to go from Boys to Men

Boys are taught
Men teach
Galatians 4:1–6 NIV84
1 What I am saying is that as long as the heir is a child, he is no different from a slave, although he owns the whole estate. 2 He is subject to guardians and trustees until the time set by his father. 3 So also, when we were children, we were in slavery under the basic principles of the world. 4 But when the time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under law, 5 to redeem those under law, that we might receive the full rights of sons. 6 Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.”
Ephesians 4:13–16 NIV84
13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. 14 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. 15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. 16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

3. Men need a mature attitude

Children throw tantrums
Children don’t understand deep things
Boys cry
Boys act childish
Maturity doesn’t happen at puberty
Puberty gives you the ability to father children
Maturity gives you the authority to raise children
Any male can father a child but men raise children

4. Make the transition from student to teacher

James 1:23–24 NIV84
23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.

5. Men are not afraid to live exemplary lives

Discipline is good
Practice is good
Train yourself to do good
Don’t quit
Quitters never win, winners never quit
We do things because they are hard
We do things to be examples
Imitate me as I imitate Christ
