Farmers know that when it's time to train a young bull they yoke together the young one to a mature bull. The mature bull dwarfs the younger bull physically and experientially so the training requires the mature bull to carry most of the weight.

Rookies don't pull their own weight either. They are there to learn how to not just "plow" but do it under control and continuously through the long season of work. Their initial training comes at the hand of the "oxen" the veteran they've been "yoked" with.

When we trusted in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior we were yoked to Jesus. God requires holiness in our life yet to a young Christian this may seem like a daunting task. It's in the discipline of training when we realize that the burden is not on us its on the one carrying the weight. That's why the word says, "my yoke is easy and my burden is light" because he's carrying it for us. But if we live as though our maturity is in our strength we'll never get personal enough with the Lord. To the degree the disciple trusts his teacher is in direct correlation with how successful he’ll become. Trust in Him.
