Introduction.

Today I would like to talk to you about Discouragement and Perseverance.
How many of you have ever been discouraged by failure I wonder, or felt like giving up, perhaps youve thought, “its just no use I’m giving up”
Let me tell you this morning about three different people who learned the power of persevering and pushing through when they were discouraged.

Three Examples.

1) Robert The Bruce and the Spider. The First story is about an Old Scottish King called Robert the Bruce. It was said that just before he defeated the English armies at the battle of Bannockburn (1314) he said to his Scottish troops “if at first you don’t succeed, try try again.” Legend has it that King Robert had been forced to hide from the enemy in a cave after a number of defeats, and he was feeling very low and discouraged. There, in the cave he watched a spider as failed over and over again to build her web before eventually succeeding. This is said to have inspired Robert to carry on fighting the English and he eventually led the scots to a famous victory.
2) Norman Lason WD40, Does anyone Know what this is, What does WD40 stand for?
3) James Dyson, The Dyson Vacume Cleaner. The first Vacume cleaner that did not loose its suction over time. Today James Dyson is a very rich man and worth an estimated $13.9 billion. It took him 5,127 attempts to invent his vacume.
“I was penniless, most other people thought I was mad but I knew I had something potentially great on my hands and pushed on, It didnt happen overnight, but after years of testing, tweeking, fist banging and more than 5,000 prototypes, it was there” he said.
These men wernt afraid to fail
The World will sometimes say your perfect just the way you are, but your not, Im not perfect, your not perfect, even your teachers are not perfect, what is important though is that we learn from our mistakes and we grow and we persevere and we press on.

Lesson

These men had many failures along the way but do you know what thats ok! Its ok to fail sometimes, its ok to find some things difficult, we are all made differently and going to be good at everything.
ok! Its ok to fail sometimes, its ok to find some things difficult, we are all made differently and going to be good at everything.
But we can learn from our failures and from failures and turn them into something possitive.
Who likes Basketball. Michael Jordon was cut from his high school basketball team.
“Ive missed more than 9000 shots in my carear, I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 fimes. Ive been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over agian in my life. And that is why I succeed. Michael Jordon.”
The world will often teach you that you are perfect Just the way you are. The Bible would teach that we are not, but thats ok, because God gives us something called Grace when we mess up. Sometimes we will fail at life, at some point we will do and say things we later regret, but we are loved by God more than we could possible dare to imagine.
Sometimes we will fail at life, at some point we will do and say things we later regret, but what is important is how we learn from those failures. The bible teaches us that when we acknowledge our sins and failures to God, he gives us something called grace to help us grow.
What is important is how we learn from our failures failures.

Paul

There was a man called Paul who wrote most of the NT in the Bible. He had alot of failures in his life but he also achieved his dreams.
