29 “Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30 Then will appear in heaven the sign of the Son of Man, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And he will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
4 And Jesus answered them, “See that no one leads you astray. 5 For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will lead many astray. 6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are but the beginning of the birth pains. 9 “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and put you to death, and you will be hated by all nations for my name’s sake. 10 And then many will fall away and betray one another and hate one another. 11 And many false prophets will arise and lead many astray. 12 And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But the one who endures to the end will be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
1 Thes
8 For not only has the word of the Lord sounded forth from you in Macedonia and Achaia, but your faith in God has gone forth everywhere, so that we need not say anything. 9 For they themselves report concerning us the kind of reception we had among you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, 10 and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come.
Matthew 24:29
Disruption
We don’t like disruptions
We don’t like being stuck on traffic

“Back in Business”
“Business as Usual”
“Life Must go On”
We plan, we live like tomorrow, and the next week, month and years will certainly come..
“Certain”
“Certain”
Certain is the biggest assumption.
Planning to buy a house.
Planning for Retirement. - that is not certain.
Planning to get married some day - that is not certain.
Planning for the Holidays - that is not certain.
Planning to watch the next Broncos game - that is not certain.
In fact, everything we planned for this coming week is not certain..
To many there will be a final major disruption of life on earth as we know it.
We will never be back in business, the end of business as usual, life as we know it will not go on.
There is one that is certain:
Jesus is coming back.
These words are not enough...
These words are not enough...
Jesus is coming back soon!
One in every 30 New Testament verses refer to the Second coming.
How is the world preparing?
Images here of Google stats and trends.
This why the second coming of Jesus will come a a disruption and will catch the world by surprise.
The good news is this: The Second Coming of Jesus does not have to be a disruption to us, the church of Jesus.
Three questions I am going to pose to you today:
Questions regarding the Second Coming:
Are you ready?
Are you yearning?
Are you eager?
Are you READY?
Jesus said in that as in the days of Noah before the flood, people will be eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day Noah entered the ark, they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, so will the coming of the of the Son of Man be.
There is a lack of interest in the second coming.
The Bible in different places warns the church not to be caught unaware..
Jesus said no one knows the day and the hour, but we are to see the signs of His coming:
Talk about the below:
Signs of Jesus’ Coming:
Rise of False Prophets
Wars and Rumors of Wars
Famines
Earthquakes
Persecution
Final Sign:
The Gospel will be preached throughout the whole world.
Bible says that there is not only a lack of interest in the second coming, there is also a rejection or ridicule of the idea.
3 knowing this first of all, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires. 4 They will say, “Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation.”
2 Peter 3:
Unbelievers will be destroyed.
Maranatha!
22 If anyone has no love for the Lord, let him be accursed. Our Lord, come!
Explain Anathema Maranatha!
10 and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come.
I prepare a place for you.
Wrath to come. God is love but also a God of justice.
My home
Repent!
2. Are you YEARNING for the Second Coming?
It is not just about awareness.
It is not just about preparedness.
It is about homesickness.
ALWAYS ON MY MIND - The primitive church thought more about the Second Coming of Jesus Christ than about death or about heaven. The early Christians were looking not for a cleft in the ground called a grave but for a cleavage in the sky called Glory. They were watching not for the undertaker but for the uppertaker. -- Alexander Maclaren (1826–1910)
Do you yearn for the soon return of the King like the early church?
In the midst of the great persecution of Christians from the Roman Empire, the word Maranatha has become a greeting among Christians to encourage one another. (talk about “Caesar is Lord”)
Replacing the word “Shalom” among Jewish believers because after all Jesus is the Prince of Peace. Maranatha!
Do you know what the last prayer in the Bible is?
20 He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!
Revelation 22:
Come Lord Jesus! This should be our heart’s cry?
persecuted?
rejected?
betrayed?
Abandoned?
Ridiculed
Make the Bible’s last prayer your everyday prayer.
Suffering physically?
Tired of life’s struggles?
Make sure you have made peace with God and that you can pray “Come Lord Jesus”
3. Are you Eager for Christ’s return?
Are we just to wait and do nothing?
13 Calling ten of his servants, he gave them ten minas, and said to them, ‘Engage in business until I come.’
13 But he said to them, “You give them something to eat.” They said, “We have no more than five loaves and two fish—unless we are to go and buy food for all these people.”
Luke
Be engaged in business..
Be engaged in business..
The business of the Kingdom..
I like the King James Version which says:
“Occupy until I come!” ( KJV)
Talk about being busy.. invest in God’s work, be a good steward of God’s blessing..
The words “Well done”. What do these words mean to you?
Should not just be about how your steak is cooked.
We must be looking up, expecting to hear these words..
Not from your boss, you can get laid off next week.. it’s good to be a good worker..help people.
Seek affirmation from Him to Whom you matter the most.
23 His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’
Be a good steward, be faithful with what God has entrusted to you.
A.W. Tozer quote:
I prepare a place for you.
“It is amazing that segments in the Christian church that deny the possibility of the imminent return of the Lord Jesus accuse those who do believe in His soon coming of sitting around, twiddling their thumbs, looking at the sky and blankly hoping for the best!”
My home
“Nothing could be further from the truth. We live in the interim between His two appearances, but we do not live in a vacuum. We have much to do and little time in which to get it done!”
“Stretch your mind and consider some very apparent facts of our day.
Who are the Christians leaving all to staff the missionary posts around the world? Who are the Christians staying at home and sacrificing in order to support the great evangelical thrust of the Christian gospel everywhere? Those who fervently believe that Christ is coming.”
“What kind of churches are busy praying and teaching and giving, preparing their young people for the ministry and for missionary work? Churches that are responding to Christ’s appeal to ‘Occupy until I come!’” (A.W. Tozer)
We will be a church of the Great Commission.
Start each day, setting an appointment with the King.
Jesus’ Second Coming is our Homecoming
Jesus said “I prepare a place for you.
2 In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.
Where would you rather live?
Where would you rather live?
I prepare a place for you.
