Relationships —> Eph. 5:21-6:9
The over all theme of Ephesians is the unity with Christ
This passage talks about unity in the home
Submit - Eph. 5:21
This is true in all realtionships
Through Christianity all male and females now share the role of submitting to one another
Gal. 3:28
Love —> Eph. 5:25
Balancing of submission and love
The woman is no longer a slave
she serves in the relationship as the church does with Christ
Sacrifice —> Eph. 5:25
Husbands should love their wives enough that they would give their lives to protect them
This gives the wives a sense of protection
But as this goes for dating:
The boyfriend should protect the girlfriend from himself
Bring out the glory —> Eph. 5:27
Man should work to bring out the best in his wife
not jealous of her talents
not making her his servant
Such as the boyfriend should bring out the best of his girlfriend that others may see it and strive to have a similar relationship
Leave and cleave to one another —> Eph. 5:31
This is pulled form Gen. 2:24
This should be applied to both our spiritual and physical relationships
We are to leave the past behind and strive to grow closer together spiritually first then emotionally and other ways following that
We are also to become one flesh
There must be unity in the home and in the Church
Do not provoke —> Eph. 6:1-4
Obey your parents in the Lord
This goes back to the 10 Commandments given to Moses for the people of Israel
Honor must be earned, it cannot be given freely
The parents need to model what the children should do
Words for a father raising children:
Be a real father figure to your children, follow what God has written in the Bible as a leader
Let your love and the love of the Father show through you
Devote yourself to both the spiritual and mental growth of your children
Set the emotional and spiritual time for your household
Conclusion: (bring full circle)
