Introduction
As we come to the final chapter of Ruth, I want to give you an overview of the entire story because I know some of you may be hearing this for the first time.

This meant if Ruth married Boaz, they could legally reclaim the land that formerly belonged to Naomi’s husband.

This is also a love story of how God
This is also a love story of how God redeems our lives.
redeems our lives.
A simple question for you this morning, “Have you been redeemed?”
If God asked you today, “Why should I let you into Heaven?”
What would be your response?
Many people would say, “I have tried my best to live a good moral life.”
Some people would say, “I have gone to church all of my life.
I even joined the church!”
Others may say, “I have always believed in you!”
Others may plead ignorance and say, “I have never known who to get to heaven.”
All these responses will not get you into heaven!
Only those who are redeemed by Jesus, and Him alone, will enter into heaven.
The story of Ruth is a love story between Ruth and Boaz.
His name is Satan.
It is is a story of God’s love for us and the extents He goes in redeeming us to Himself.
Let’s look at our passage today.
1.
A true redeemer goes through the proper channels to provide complete redemption.
(vs.
1-10)
In the first 10 verses we see how Boaz had to do the proper things in order to be Ruth’s Kinsman-Redeemer.
You see Boaz truly loved Ruth; he wanted to marry her.
However there was a barrier from that happening; there was a closer relative to Ruth than Boaz.
Boaz gave this closer relative a chance to redeem Ruth in front of witnesses, but he refused.
This gave Boaz the right to become Ruth’s Kinsman-Redeemer.
Just as Boaz went through the right channels to redeem Ruth, God went through the right channels to redeem us and satisfy Holy Nature!
God loves us and wants to have an eternal relationship with us.
However, our sins prevents us from being in his Holy Presence.
The barrier of our sins has to be removed and paid for.
God took care of that through His Son, Jesus.
Jesus lived a sinless life on Earth.
Jesus’ death on the cross pays for our redemption, the forgiveness of our sins.
Just as Boaz had to pay for the fields of Elimelech to redeem Ruth, Jesus paid for our redemption with His shed blood on the cross.
1 Peter
Jesus’ resurrection is God saying He is satisfied with Jesus’ death as payment for our sins.
It is the note from the bank, or lender, saying our sin bill is “Paid in Full”.
The Bible clearly teaches us that Jesus is the only one can redeem us for God.
2. A flawed redeemer falls short in bringing complete redemption.
(vs.
3-6)
2. A flawed redeemer falls short in bringing complete redemption.
The one who was in line to redeem Ruth decided he didn’t want to be Ruth’s Kinsman-Redeemer.
This man was only interested in the land and not in Ruth.
The flawed redeemer in our world is Satan.
Satan will talk a good game and get you to believe anything and everything other than Jesus.
Satan’s goal is to keep you from being redeemed.
