The Bereans

Acts 17:10–12 NASB95
The brethren immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea, and when they arrived, they went into the synagogue of the Jews. Now these were more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica, for they received the word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so. Therefore many of them believed, along with a number of prominent Greek women and men.

What God is doing to me.

God is causing me to seek Him so that He can mold and shape me into the image of His Son Jesus.

Prayer

Ps 42
Psalm 42:1–2 NASB95
As the deer pants for the water brooks, So my soul pants for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God; When shall I come and appear before God?
Psalm 63:1 NASB95
O God, You are my God; I shall seek You earnestly; My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You, In a dry and weary land where there is no water.
Psalm 143:5–8 NASB95
I remember the days of old; I meditate on all Your doings; I muse on the work of Your hands. I stretch out my hands to You; My soul longs for You, as a parched land. Selah. Answer me quickly, O Lord, my spirit fails; Do not hide Your face from me, Or I will become like those who go down to the pit. Let me hear Your lovingkindness in the morning; For I trust in You; Teach me the way in which I should walk; For to You I lift up my soul.
Ps 143:5-8

O Lord, surely I am Your servant, I am Your servant, the son of Your handmaid, You have loosed my bonds. To You I shall offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving, And call upon the name of the Lord.
Ps 116
Psalm 30:11–12 NASB95
You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have loosed my sackcloth and girded me with gladness, That my soul may sing praise to You and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks to You forever.
Ps 30:11
Jonah 2:9 NASB95
But I will sacrifice to You With the voice of thanksgiving. That which I have vowed I will pay. Salvation is from the Lord.”

MERCIFUL

2 Sam
Exodus 7:22–23 NASB95
But the magicians of Egypt did the same with their secret arts; and Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, and he did not listen to them, as the Lord had said. Then Pharaoh turned and went into his house with no concern even for this.
Ex. 7
Exodus 9:12 NASB95
And the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he did not listen to them, just as the Lord had spoken to Moses.

What God is doing through me

God reveals is mercy, grace, and forgiveness through the way I treat others. God in turn treats me with mercy and grace, and forgiveness or grace in the same way I have treated others.

Prayer

Who are the people around me to whom I need to show mercy, forgiveness, and grace.
Lord, increase my faith to be forgiving “seventy time seven.” ()
You have forgiven me so much. I will forgive in a like manner.

David’s prayer after his sin with Bathsheba.
Psalm 51:7–19 NASB95
Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Make me to hear joy and gladness, Let the bones which You have broken rejoice. Hide Your face from my sins And blot out all my iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation And sustain me with a willing spirit. Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, And sinners will be converted to You. Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, the God of my salvation; Then my tongue will joyfully sing of Your righteousness. O Lord, open my lips, That my mouth may declare Your praise. For You do not delight in sacrifice, otherwise I would give it; You are not pleased with burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; A broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise. By Your favor do good to Zion; Build the walls of Jerusalem. Then You will delight in righteous sacrifices, In burnt offering and whole burnt offering; Then young bulls will be offered on Your altar.
Ps.51:

What God is doing through me.

God reveals His holiness, righteousness, and purity through my behavior. God responds to me by allowing me to have a greater intimacy with Him. God reveals more of Himself to me.

Prayer
