Oh, good morning. Love you bubbles. I've been there a Hebrew 6 chapter chapter 6 verse 13 to 20. Let me pray before we begin.

Origami, thank you for the opportunity to come together this morning and to hear from your word to senior prizes to be reminded of your greatness and your promises to us. Yes Lord that you would bless this time to us. Reading of your wedding and Lord bless the words that come out of my mouth as well might be an encouragement to each one of us. See you in Jesus name. I'm in. Charles Swindoll tells a story about the time when he was starting out in Ministry of the young pasta with his family and they lives around the corner from a juvenile correctional facility or an old Reformatory. It's big stone walls and tail gods. Look what the

demanding sore place in and it was a big Dock and scary place while confronting one day while I'm driving you son cut was staring at the Reformatory in a swingle soaring pondering. And he told him that that it was a place where kids who disobey their parents guy? Miss got the six year olds attention of Corson. The questions came from Cut lock how many times do kids disobey before they have to go in there? And if you say story do you do you still go in there? Realizing that eats carries young son Swindle reassured him and said that you will never go in there. His son son replied and said do you promise study? The lighter on that Knotts window reminder the sun red dress the conversation in the Reformatory in and also he's promising to encourage him by saying some I am convinced of better things for you than that.

Kerrville passage this morning. We say that a lot of follows on from his verses that we looked at last week versus the regiment to us following a warning. Franco brought you a message last week with us stock warning about falling away. And and if you look back to versus 9 to 12. We can see those verses. It says no we speaking this way yet in your case beloved. We feel sure of better things things that belong to Salvation. God is Not unjust so as to overlook your work and the love that you have shown for his name in serving the Saints as you still do. We desire each one of you to show the same earnestness to have the full Assurance of Hope until the end. So that you might not be sluggish but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

As a city or a Radha follows the warning that we sore in the early part of chapter 6 with encouragement encouragement to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises. Please go to person is Abraham. And of course, it should not surprise us after Abraham is one of the Prime examples of a person who waited with faith and patience. Abraham was given the promise of the land of people and a blessing both blessing personally, but also a blessing that the Earth shall be blessed through with the families of the Earth shall be blessed through him. We see this initial promise to Abraham in Genesis 12 verses 1 2 3. It says now the Lord said to Abram go from your country and your Kindred and your father's house to the land that I will show you. And I will make of you a great nation and I will bless you and make your name great so that you will be a blessing I will bless those who bless you and him who dishonors you I will kiss. It ain't you all the families of the Earth shall be blessed. Abraham was 75 years old when he received this initial call from God to go from what is known into the unknown and and the promise that is contained within that cool. And he would spend the next 25 years waiting for the promised child. That would be his ass. Sorry that there would be a descendants what nations that could come from him. and Abraham waited 25 years with patients at least most of the time there was a time where he was a little impatient. He and Sarah and there was the episode with Hagar and Ishmael always say that Abraham waited patiently. As we seen a passage this morning God's warned us that what God promised Abraham would receive. Verse 13 to 15 says for when God made a promise to Abraham since he had no one greater boy him to swear. He swore by himself. Surely I will bless you and multiply you and I say Abraham having patiently waited obtain the promise. I want the rider is a referring to here is the the artist that God makes to confirm the promise in Genesis 22. This is Oscar Isaac was born and even after Isaac Abraham was was asked to take Isaac to the mountain and sacrificing. God made this promise or restated This Promise am I deserve it upon himself and it was based on God's faithfulness, but also coupled with Abraham. Genesis 22 as a 16-18 receive that God swears upon himself. God said by myself, I have sworn to class the Lord because you have done this and have not withheld your son your only son. I will surely bless you and I will surely multiply your Offspring as the stars of heaven. And as the saying that is on the seashore and your Offspring shall possess the Gate of his enemies. And in your Offspring shall all the nations of the earth be blessed because you are buying my voice.

Ellis good reason that the writer of Hebrews uses Abraham. Is it the prime example of patience and faith Is 25 years a quarter of a century of waiting and then his willingness to trust God with Ciara, They even sacrificing his own son is why Ibraham spice and patience is to be admired or to be exemplified. The promises that were made and concern to Abraham and then came to fruition is why Ibraham exhibit so much trust in God. It's all good acting is lost when he saw specific promises carried out and and to be obtained not to the full extent but to some extent. Abraham saw God acting he's lost which would would be far above what what we would consider human ability human standards. And just as Ibraham received specific promises believe is in Jesus have also received specific promises from God precious and magnificent Promises of the pedicles. I mean to 2 Peter 1:4. God was ultimately faithful to Abraham and fulfilled his promises after a long white and he will be faithful to believe is in Christ. Jesus to fulfill his promises. Even if it feels like a long white

Bullhead the the phrase cross my heart as we grow out perhaps in the schoolyard or or even at work and this is coupled with the promise of cross my heart and hope to die.

Who sang would signify that was someone was making a promising and I were promising to carry out what they were promising and staking their the law for the reputation of Foreigner. What God does hear and in Genesis and then essentially style restated in Hebrews is that he States his reputation as being the old powerful all knowing generous god of the of the Bible and he swears an oath on his nine. I'm going to come and good on his promise. He confirms once again that he is able to be trusted and to be a guide.

Sun god States his reputation on his promise to Abraham and the right of the Hebrews restates. This promised these Us in order to show how God can be trusted.

Lesson 16 to 18 Mansion two unchangeable things. I'll read them out to your 16 verse 16 of Hebrews 6:4 people swear by something greater than themselves and in all that disputes a noise is final for confirmation. So when God has all of the Shamokin convincingly to The Heirs of the promise the unchangeable character of his purpose. He guaranteed it with an oath set up by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie. We who have fled for Refuge might have strong encouragement to hold fast to the hopes that before as I said Versi thing refers to two unchangeable things that convinced us of God's promises being able to be trusted. First of these is that God's purpose is unchanging. It's in God's nature to remind steadfast and unchanging how God is and is not a God who is flaky or unreliable or what does not answer prayers or unpredictable. or easy to upset what God determines to do he will do. He is both willing to willing and able to carry out his purpose. Secondly God's promise expressed as an artist is unchangeable.

The moment God's promises are spoken God's people and begin counting all the on it without wavering. Because it is impossible for God to lie in Versailles to NYC. It doesn't give promises locked way sometimes doing and he forgets his promises or he goes back on his word. His promises are unchangeable.

I'm sadly we see that God's character is on changing. Hebrews 13 verse 8 says Versailles Change chapter 6 so that by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie. We who have fled for Refuge might have strong encouragement to hold fast to the Hope set before us.

Hebrews 13 the site says the Jesus Christ is the same yesterday today and forever. And so we can trust that God's character God's Pro promises and God's purpose is unchanging.

Emotive had the phrase facts over feelings heard me say that some people today would have you believe that feelings are to be trusted more than facts. I believe this is a very dangerous way of thinking and and very detrimental to our Christian walk because often are feelings can get us into trouble. If we were to trust their feelings over facts l a marriage is a relationships can be in great Jeopardy and Christian faith is in fact even at stake. An eternal lives might be at stake if we trust feelings over facts. Because often are feelings can become carried away with themselves. If we feel more in love with someone else we might put a marriage of Jeopardy in Jeopardy. If we feel far from God we must put our relationship with God and in jeopardy. And how are emotions and feelings can change Like the Wind? Many things can produce an emotional response and some other in the moment others from Alpine Austin and then many people worry about the uncertainty of the future. Still other emotions my Micah creation of response to Mia fantasies lies that we tell ourselves that make us needlessly on happy. We tell ourselves that we would be happy if I only we could do this or do that will have that. I'm I also be a result of misunderstandings of miscommunications or wherever thinking things are dwelling upon negative thoughts or responses that we've had a sales or from others.

And there is no end to the amount of Feeling by positive and negative said flows through a logs on a daily basis. feelings and emotions change Like the Wind the wants of Rider is telling a broader to Hebrews is telling us to grasp hold of is of the facts. It's not let go that God's character is on changing the God's purposes on changing. The God's promises are unchanging. Hold onto facts over feelings.

As I said because Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

Verses 19 and 20 deal with a change of tactic from using Abraham as a prime example of promises fulfilled to reminding Believers of Jesus and how he fulfills God's promises as well and to continuing steadfast fight of him. How do you use as an anchor as a metaphor an illustration to to continuing steadfast faith in Jesus? The purpose of an anchor is to hold fast and start drifting does not. It's just stopped me drifting away from my my favorite fishing spot if I was a fisherman or drifting out to sea never to be seen again. You can Acura a big ocean lawn or tiny little aluminium tinny with something that is heavy enough to hold it fast.

I can hold fast to the bottom of the ocean or can or you can use it on land to stop new bike drifting away from the Todd during the Todd. I'm selling anchors job is to hold fast and stop drifting. What's 19 + 20? We have this as a Shore and steadfast anchor of the soul. I hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on male behind having become a high priest Forever After the order of Melchizedek.

What the writer of the Hebrews of Hebrews is saying is that this is no earthly anchor it is an anchor for the soul. the knowledge that God can be trusted because he's word is true and he does not lie and he fulfills his promises and he has shown us that is the anchor that we can talk by our face to God is trustworthy because Jesus fulfills all God's promises.

And the anchor that the writer to the Hebrews is referring to is that Jesus has gone before us confirmed. All of God's promises to dite. And because of this fact we can hold fast to the the fact that God can be trusted with a r Eternal future as well. Romans 8 31 to 35

Tells us. Oasis What then shall we say to these things if God is for us who can be against us He who did not spare his own son, but gave him up for a soul. How will he not also with him graciously. Give us all things. Who shall bring any charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies who is to condemn cross Jesus is the one who died who was right who is at the right hand of God who is indeed interceding for us? Who shall separate us from the love of Christ and he goes on to say shall tribulation or distress and now there's nothing nothing in the in the world above well below the heavens above that can separate us from the love of Christ and love of God in Christ Jesus.

Inside the basis of Christian. Hope is not wishful thinking about the future but on the shore and steady Promises of God. Initial Foundation of God saving activity in the world was a particular promise made to Abraham in Genesis 12, and so they're on repeated in Genesis and then into Exodus but also remembered damn throughout the ages of Israel's history. God would multiply the descendants of Abraham making them into a great nation establishing them in their own land and would bless them so that they might become a source of blessing to All Nations. Hebrews gives the gives Abraham as the the example of waiting patiently for what was promised. God began to fulfill his promises to Abraham and in his lifetime. But the ultimate blessing came in the person of Jesus Christ the Messiah the savior of the world. The ultimate blessing will come for us as Believers in Christ when Jesus returns and settle things right again. When we spend eternity with him.

And I'm still in Dancing uncertainties arise and will arise and each of Our Lives from Tom's Towing. These dance can cause us to question theological facts on moral truths. And we can respond to dance in one of two ways for some of us dance can drive us into despair. Or the opposite response to doubt is the focus on the character and Promises of God. Hebrews 6 challenges has to do that today encourages us to do that to be like Abraham and and wait patiently on God for the promises to be fulfilled. the metaphorical storm clouds rolling over Alonzo down arises it now and Mourns We need to look up and focus on Jesus rather than the wind and the waves. God has given us an anchor for the soul in which we should hold fast when death comes in and says that only a fool would believe this stuff remember that it is impossible for God to lie as we see inverse 18. Wendy Whispers in your area. God has abandoned you remember the unchangeable character of his purpose guaranteed with an ice in the 17. Wendy, zoo with painful blows or circumstances bruised you remember that you can have confidence that God promised and what he promised he has done what he has promised to do in the future. He will do as well. We can hold fast to the Anchor that is secured in the Heavenly realm and anchor for the soul. Because as verse 9 of chapter 6 reminds us that we speaking this way yet in your case beloved. We feel sure of better things things that belong to Salvation.

If you or anyone else a Feeling pummeled by death today, I asked you I am invite you to come and see me after the service come and see me for prayer or find someone you trust within the congregation. Ask the God would help you focus on him and his promises and his purpose in his character. I hope you hold fast to Jesus the anchor for our salvation.

Lord again, we thank you and praise you for the the Spirit Led words of Hebrews chapter 6. We thank you that these words and Cara just to hold fast or look to you for. Which is the encouragement to continue on regardless of the cost? On a prize that you would help us in our unbelief for times of death. I'll try that you would help us to be reminded of your promises and 5s and you'll character. But each one of these things is unchanging. The Praise You Lord that you are go out of a faithfulness and a God who the lights to intervene or interacting alarms only asked Lord that you would continue to do so fill us with the facts of of that you can be trusted and that we can rely on you. We can place a trust and faith in you. Try this in the name of Jesus. Who is the anchor for a soul? I'm in.
