intro

Let me tell you a couple of things about humanity. You dont need to be an anthropologist to understand people, all you need is is scripture.
When God created us, he made us perfect.
Genesis 1:27 NKJV
27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
However, things did not stay that way. man gave in to satans temptations to disobey God. When that happened, theologically it is simply known as the Fall, but many things about us changed.
Genesis 3:7–10 NKJV
7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings. 8 And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden. 9 Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?” 10 So he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.”
We can see the immediate effects of sin: Shame, guilt - running from God, a broken relationship with their creator. Fear.. jjust to name a few.
death of course alo made its apperence.
Romans 5:12 NKJV
12 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned—
Our very brains were forever changed by sin, its like we were rewired.
We stopped loving God, we become jelious and full of envy, we became angry with one another.
Genesis 4:8 NKJV
8 Now Cain talked with Abel his brother; and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother and killed him.
We can speak for days about all the evil effects of Sin, but today i only want to minister on one. We see this effect also woerking right away.

The Dodging of Personal responsibility

All of a sudden, everyone is innocent and its all someone elses fault. No one is responciblie for anything anymore.
Genesis 3:11–13 NKJV
11 And He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?” 12 Then the man said, “The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate.” 13 And the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”
God ask Adam a personal question: Have YOU eaten? Have YOU done this? He is asking Adam about his actions. Adams response: It was the woman...
God ases the Woman: What is this YOU have done? God is asking the woman about what SHE has done, not what Adam has done but what SHE has done. Her response: It was the serpant...
This has become the standard pattern for humanity: When something goes wrong, dodge all personal responcibility and blame someone else.
This is now our culture. This is the world we live in.
If a man is a riminal they balme poverty. If a man is abusive they blame his upbringing. If a man is a molester they blame his parents. If people are living is desperate povery they blame the goverment. If people are unhappy or misrible they blame their spouse. If children are misbehaving they blame the teachers.
We living ina world where EVERYONE ELSE is guilty but the actual wrong doer is always innocent.

A False Proverb

Ezekiel 18:1–3 NKJV
1 The word of the Lord came to me again, saying, 2 “What do you mean when you use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying: ‘The fathers have eaten sour grapes, And the children’s teeth are set on edge’? 3 As I live,” says the Lord God, “you shall no longer use this proverb in Israel.
Bsically this was a common saying or proverb in Israel and the meaning behind it is common to this day.
Listen to what it says: The Childrens teeth are set on edge, why? Because the fathers ate souir grapes.
In other words: Children, why are your teeth on edge? Because our father ate sour grapes.
Its a blame game, its not oiur fault, its our fathers fault...
Liten to God’s responce, its a long one...
Prover 18 4 down 18
This long response is simple to understand. we have 3 generations: a Good godly man, who has a wicked evil son, who in turn has a good godly son.
In each of these 3 God did not ship blame but held each one accountible.
The first godly man shall live.
Ezekiel 18:5 NKJV
5 But if a man is just And does what is lawful and right;
Ezekiel 18:9 NKJV
9 If he has walked in My statutes— And kept My judgments faithfully— He is just; He shall surely live!” Says the Lord God.
His son, was a evil robber, NOT the FAULT OF THE FATHER.
Ezekiel 18:10 NKJV
10 “If he begets a son who is a robber Or a shedder of blood, Who does any of these things
Ezekiel 18:13 NKJV
13 If he has exacted usury Or taken increase— Shall he then live? He shall not live! If he has done any of these abominations, He shall surely die; His blood shall be upon him.
Notice that His blood shall be on him, not his father, or siocity, or the goverment, or the wife...
And then again this evil father had a son, but dispite growing up with such a wicked father, WAS NOT destined to follow in the same pattern. He took responcibility for his life and CHOSE another path.
Ezekiel 18:14 NKJV
14 If, however, he begets a son Who sees all the sins which his father has done, And considers but does not do likewise;
Now the proverb was saying: That wicked son, it was his fathers fault, but it was not, and the wicked man’s won son proved that his evil fathers action were not an excuse for his own actions and chose to live a godly life.
The point is clear: each one of these 3 men chose the life they chose, were the kinds of people they chose to be and no one else can be blamed for their own personal decision. they must each take responcibility.
Now this is a very radical and sobering way to live, but it is the godly way to live.
Proverbs 28:13 NKJV
13 He who covers his sins will not prosper, But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.
Part of covering is blaming.
And the reality is that we are each to blame for our own sin, our own mistakes and our own self inflicted hardaships.
When we stand before God we will not be able to bring in any witnesses or point to others for our mistakes.
Galatians 6:5 NKJV
5 For each one shall bear his own load.
But its not just our sins that we blame, its even our miseries.
Now i say this with a reservation. We do live in afallen world and Jesus has promised us that we will face trials, harships and tribulations in this world:
John 16:33 NKJV
33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
So of course many “miseries” simple come fromm, living in this fallen world.
BUT, by far, other than totally unavoidible illness, tarynical goverments, evil crimes commited by criminals and things such as these, the fast majority of our miseries are self inflicted.
Job 34:11 NKJV
11 For He repays man according to his work, And makes man to find a reward according to his way.
You are struggeling to find a job, thats very hard in SA, but how much is really SA? Were you partieng while your peers were studing? Did you spend your 20’s )crucial years ina our careers) getting drunk and doing drugs and things while others people your age got work experience?
Did you have unprotected sex and fall pregant or get a girl pregant and now have no way to save m oney cause it all goes on baby things because you were not financialy or relatiobly stable to heave a child yet?
Did you spend years of your life smoking and doing no excersise and now your leags are given out and you have emphsemia?
Did you nag your husband or deny him to the point that he dreaded coming home and found happoiness in the arms of nother woman?
Did you misteat your wife and neglect her and she finally gotbsicj of your nonsese and found love leswhere?
NOT PLEASE: im not saying that we have no sympathy or that we dont feel this pain or frustration - but freedom is found in admitting what WE have done and asking God for mercy.
We need to stop blaming, stp covering - and starf confessing and repenting.
2 Chronicles 7:14 NKJV
14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
