Sermon Tone Analysis

Today we are gathering together in what we call our Family Service.

This is where we bring our children out of LM where we intentionally teach them God’s Word on their level, and we bring them in our main service to disciple them in worship.

Our main goal in this is to teach our children what it means to gather with God’s people to sing praises to him, to hear his Word preached, and hopefully to respond in faith.

In order to help us do this, we ask all our church to obey what Paul said in which is to count others more significant than ourselves.

One thing we try to do in organizing our church services together is to limit distractions as much as possible so that people can focus on God’s Word and hopefully be convicted of sin and repent to worship the Lord.

Now let me say on the forefront, our kids in worship with us are not a distraction.

Every coo or caw, every time a child asks their parent a question about the sermon is not a distraction but it is an indicator that we are obeying and discipling our children in the Lord.

However, if one of our children starts getting really worked up, it can make it really difficult for others around them to focus on God’s Word, particularly our young children who are already doing their best to stay focused on what is being taught in the service.

So what I want to do is to give you the freedom to be quick to move.

Even if its right in the middle of service to not feel bad at all about getting up, stepping outside to calm down and then come right back in.

Because in doing this, we actually love others in our church because we are saying, I want to do everything I can to help them focus on God’s Word so they can grow in Christ.

So please, if in 5 or 10 seconds you know it might be hard for others to hear God’s Word, count others more significant help them focus on the Word by stepping out for a moment and then coming right back in.
