Jesus Christ came with authority, calling people him as disciples. After they stepped into discipleship with Christ by faith they were called Christians. The fundamental call of Christ to us is to be his disciples. A foundational value of Grace Community Church is faith for following Christ in discipleship.

Read Matthew 28:16-20

As we are going through this series, Scott talked about many things in our lives change, how do you handle change? ()
Scott pointed out that in verse 17, that “some worshiped him, but some doubted.”, why i s this so important to think through as we ourselves go throughout life?
It is also helpful for us to point out that this commitment may not necessarily be accompanied by any special feelings. Since Christianity is true and Jesus is the Son of God, we can rely on his Word that if we trust him, we receive eternal life. That is a matter of fact, not feeling. Therefore, although some may at once feel joy, for others the joy comes later. Once a person commits themselves to marriage, they are married wether they feel like it or not. - John Lennox - Have No Fear.
3. Scott pointed out that Jesus is “Eternal Son of God” “Incarnate” Fully God fully Man” “Lived a perfect life” Why is it important to remind to remind ourselves of this?
4. Verse 18 says, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me” How does this give you hope in a world that gravitates towards the hopeless? ()
5. Scott pointed out that Christ has absolute authority on earth. We are though, also to honor legitimate authority (Parents, Government, etc) how do we make sure that we are under the absolute authority of Christ, primarily, and legitimate authority secondarily?
6. Scott stated that baptism is a act of faith stepping into and under the Lordship of Christ. How have you viewed baptism growing up? (We follow Christ because of who he is, not because of what we can get.)
7. What does it mean to walk by faith? ()
8. In your own life, have you had a distorted view of the difference between discipleship & faith? (Discipleship is continuing with Christ after baptism)
9. states that the disciples were called by those who lived in Antioch Christians. Why is this so important to remember? (People on the outside called them Christians, people who were Christ followers called each other disciples)
10. So as disciples of Christ, we are called to walk by faith, what are things that we do by faith every day under the Lordship of Christ?

Closing Thought

11. Scott stated the value of being a disciple of Christ is not being a part of Grace Community Church, but that the value is Christ. Why is this so important to remember?
