16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, first to the Jew, and also to the Greek.
17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith, just as it is written: The righteous will live by faith.

I. Are you ashamed of the gospel?
I. Are you ashamed of the gospel?
Romand 1:16
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, first to the Jew, and also to the Greek.
A. Telling others about Jesus should come naturally from your life.

Illus: Growing up I always thought that evangelism was a program that you participated in at church. You learn a script, you go with a team, you read a booklet, you pray a prayer.
Evangelism was always difficult for me because I never felt equipped enough. Being dyslexic I struggled to learn the presentations, and I always got tripped up on my words when we put it into practice.
In an attempt to equip people, by making evangelism a presentation to give, or a program to share, the church in turn has cripplied it’s people.
God intended evangelism, sharing your faith, leading people to salvation, to be something that comes naturally out of our lives.
Evangelism begins with you living out the transformation of God’s work in your heart seen in your life.
Those closest to you should see a distinct difference in who you are. They should see the life of Christ at work in you. You should look transformed because you are transformed.
Out of that, evangelism should naturally flow. Your gospel transformation should be apart of what you regularly talk about. People who see the difference in your walk, will want what you have.
Is gospel transformation apart of who you are? Can people actually see that Jesus has changed you?
15 but in your hearts regard Christ the Lord as holy, ready at any time to give a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you.
(for the hope in you)

Illus: Here in our church I don’t have to wonder who are LSU fans, Alabama fans, Louisiana Tech fans, Hail State fans, or even the two Southern Miss fans. Your love for those universities is what you talk about, tease about, post about, and even clothe yourself in.
What you are most passionate about tends to be what you talk about.
Here in our church, I don’t have to ask people if they are into restoring cars, hunting, fishing, or even hating pumpkin spice.
What you are most passionate about tends to be what you talk about.
Here in our church, when someone is walking through a sickness, there is no lack of opinions on how to treat that disease whether through natural remedies, or prescriptions.
When you find something that helps you, you tend to pass it on.
What are you most passionate about? The church answer is that we should say Jesus… but what do our lives really show?
My belief is that if you have been genuinely changed by the power of God, then you are going to be passionate about the things of God.
If God has changed us, evangelism should be the natural conversation out of our changed hearts.
18 Jesus came near and said to them, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth.
19 Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20 teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

II. God’s power is displayed in the gospel.

A. When you share your faith, you tap in to God’s power.

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, first to the Jew, and also to the Greek.
Illus: Let’s be clear about what the Scripture is saying… when you share the gospel… the gospel message contains, is God’s power to transform people’s lives.
What is the gospel: you are a sinner and there is nothing you can do to save yourself. Jesus Christ died taking the punishment for your sins. Jesus rose from the dead conquering death. When you place your whole trust in Him, both to forgive you and to be your boss, Jesus will transform your life and save you from coming judgment.
We are looking for something to fix this broken world we live in. We look to politics, good works, money, ambition, social status, social media… and all of these have left us empty.
If the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results, then why do we keep looking to powerless solutions which have shown themselves vain and empty.
The gospel is where God’s power is revealed. The gospel will transform your friends, family, our city, nation and world. It is where God’s power resides. It is what God uses to transform.
If we gave the gospel as much passion as we give the powerless ways of the world, we could see our city and nation transformed over night.
8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
B. The gospel is for every person.

Illus: The gospel is for the worst sinner and the the self righteous. It does not matter what you have done, or how good you think you are, Jesus dies for you.
The gospel is for those you love, and for those you hate. Jesus offers forgiveness to ever single person.
The gospel is for those who look like you, and the gospel is for those who are different from you.
The gospel is for the rich man and for the poor man.
Jesus died for every person on this earth, and if he dies for every person on this earth, we need to share with every person he died for.
36 When he saw the crowds, he felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and dejected, like sheep without a shepherd.
37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is abundant, but the workers are few.
38 Therefore, pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest.”

III. The gospel should be evident in your life.

A. Are you a changed person?
A. Are you a changed person?
Illus: Do you live in such a way that people can see God’s transformation in your heart? Do you live in such a way where conversations naturally flow about God’s grace from your lips?
If you genuinely trusted Christ by faith you are a new creation. There should be a difference in you. You are not the same person you were before he changed your heart.
Are you a changed person? If you are, are you silent about the change?
Are you a changed person? Why do you remain silent to those you love?
Today will you allow God to transform you, remake you, make the gospel seen in you, and make the gospel flow from your life and words?
10 One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation.
11 For the Scripture says, Everyone who believes on him will not be put to shame,
12 since there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, because the same Lord of all richly blesses all who call on him.
13 For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
14 How, then, can they call on him they have not believed in? And how can they believe without hearing about him? And how can they hear without a preacher?
15 And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news.
