The blessing of the Lord makes rich,
and he adds no sorrow with it.
“LIVING WITHOUT REGRETS”

Kennedy
Kennedy
Kennedy
In his autobiography, Just as I Am, Billy Graham tells about a conversation he had with John F. Kennedy shortly after his election:
On the way back to the Kennedy house, the president-elect stopped the car and turned to me.
“Do you believe in the Second Coming of Jesus Christ?’ he asked.
“I most certainly do.”
“Well, does my church believe it?”
“They have it in their creeds.”
“They don’t preach it,” he said.
“They don’t tell us much about it.
I’d like to know what you think.”
“I explained what the Bible said about Christ coming the first time, dying on the Cross, rising from the dead, and then promising that he would come back again.
‘Only then,’ I said, ‘are we going to have permanent world peace.’”
“Very interesting,” he said, looking away.
“We’ll have to talk more about that someday.”
And he drove on.”
Several years later, the two met again, at the 1963 National Prayer Breakfast.
“I had the flu,” Graham remembers.
“After I gave my short talk, and he gave his, we walked out of the hotel to his car together, as was always our custom.
At the curb, he turned to me.”
“Billy, could you ride back to the White House with me?
I’d like to see you for a minute.”
“Mr.
President, I’ve got a fever,” I protested.
“Not only am I weak, but I don’t want to give you this thing.
Couldn’t we wait and talk some other time?”
It was a cold, snowy day, and I was freezing as I stood there without my overcoat.
“Of course,’ he said graciously.”
But the two would never meet again.
Later that year, Kennedy was shot dead.
Graham comments, “His hesitation at the car door, and his request, haunt me still.
What was on his mind?
Should I have gone with him?
It was an irrecoverable moment.”
Billy Graham, Just As I Am
what Billy Graham learned from this situation REGRETABLY.... is THAT HE HAD MISSED THE MOMENT!
And I believe it fueled his fire to never miss such a moment ever again
PROPOSITIONAL STATEMENT
ALL OF US KNOW WHAT ITS LIKE TO LIVE WITH REGRETS CAUSED BY SOMETHING ....
WE DID
SOMEONE ELSE DID
GOD DID
OR A LIFE CHANGING EVENT
QUALIFYING THE ARGUMENT
BEFORE I GIVE YOU DEFINITIONS LET ME QUALIFY THE ARGUMENT (because you may be wondering)?
how did we arrive at this juncture
how did we extricate or pull this out of the passage?
WHEN YOU VIEW THIS PASSAGE IN VARIOUS TRANSLATIONS THE PREDOMINATE WORD USED IS SORROW.
NLT,ESV, BSB, NKJV, KJV
THE WORD SORROW IN THE HEBREW CONNOTES REGRET
DEFINING REGRET
re·gret verb
feel sad, repentant, or disappointed over (something that has happened or been done, especially a loss or missed opportunity).
as a verb its a form of compassion or sympathy that you have for someone else and or yourself
its enacting each of you not looking out for ⌊your own interests⌋, but also each of you for ⌊the interests⌋ of others.
4 each of you not looking out for ⌊your own interests⌋, but also each of you for ⌊the interests⌋ of others.
ALLOWING YOURSELF TO BECOME EMOTIONALLY INVOLVED IN SOMEONE ELSES AFFAIRS TO THE EXTENT THAT YOU GO BEYOND JUST WORDS
ITS LIKE STIGMATA
ITS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SEEING ME IN A BURNING BUILDING AND STANDING ON THE OUTSIDE SAYING I FEEL SORRY FOR YOU
AND COMING IN TO HELP ME AND GETTING A GLIMPS OF WHAT I FEEL
SO ONE WOULD SAY I REGRET TO HEAR OF YOU LOSS AND REALLY MEAN IT
noun
a feeling of sadness, repentance, or disappointment over something that has happened or been done.
noun
a feeling of sadness, repentance, or disappointment over something that has happened or been done.
AS A NOUN ITS A FORM OF DEPRESSION (DESPONDENCY)
ITS INTERNALIZING FAILURE ASSOCIATED WITH DISSATISFACTION OR DISAPPROVAL WITH WHAT YOU DID OR SOMEONE ELSE DID
you missed the mark
you missed the monent
you failed
you blew it
they betrayed you
GOD SAYS WHENEVER I BLESS YOU,... YOU DON’T EVER HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THE BLESSING THAT I BLESSED YOU WITH TURNING AROUND AND DEPRESSING YOU or causing you to regret
because if i open a door imma make sure you ready to walk through it
if i bless you with something or someone it will never cease to be a joy and a blessing to your life
thats why we gotta be mindful of our conversation because not here, but some of us are guilty of word cursing our GOD”S blessings in our life
let me veer off a minute to help compliment the message
note: when you read Proverbs chapter 10 in its entirety the predominate theme is... the danger in what we let come out of our mouth.
32 verses almost all of them deal with what we say out our mouth.... and the detriment
vs 19 stuck out to me, look what it says
this one stuck out to me ...
In many words, transgression is not lacking, but he who restrains his lips is prudent
19 In many words, transgression is not lacking,
you’ve talked yourself into some stuff
and you’ve talked yourself out of some stuff
THAT’S A REGRET RIGHT THERE!!!!
but he who restrains his lips is prudent
who needs that?…IN MANY WORDS SIN IS NOT LACKING BUT IF I CAN JUST SHUT MY MOUTH.......LORD SAVE MY MOUTH.... MY MOUTH KEEPS GETTING ME IN TROUBLE
I DONE TAPED IN
LET ME TELL YOU WHY THAT SHOULD BLESS YOU
BECAUSE YOU CAN’T CURSE WHAT GOD HAS BLESSED
BUT THAT WORKS BOTH WAYS
NO WEAPON THAT IS FORGED AGAINST YOU SHALL PROSPER AND EVERY TOUNGE
what are yall thinking?
