Usually when we see a prophet enter, we have some account of them prior to their great works for God. We are told what tribe the from, whose son they are. We are given somewhat a family history.
But with Elijah he just appears on the scene. No mention of a father, or a mother, and with out descent. This had some Jews thinking of him as an angel sent form heaven, but James assured us that “he was a man subject to like passions as we are” ()
So what does that mean?
Elijah was a man that was liable to the common infirmities of human nature.
He was a man of strong passions. He was willing and eager than most men. This made him fit or stronger to deal with the daring sinners of his time.
