(NIV)
3 In the course of time Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil as an offering to the Lord. 4 And Abel also brought an offering—fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. The Lord looked with favor on Abel and his offering, 5 but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor. So Cain was very angry, and his face was downcast. 6 Then the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? 7 If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.”
4. BODY
A. Abel has a faith that sacrifices
1.Story of Cain & Abel
2.Cain-Farmer sacrificed vegtables
3. Abel- Shepherd sacrificed meat
B. I like the story of the chicken and the pig. Both are walking down the street one day when they come to a grocery store with a sign in the window which reads, “Bacon and Eggs Desperately Needed.” The chicken looks at the pig and says, “I’ll give them the eggs if you’ll give them the bacon.”
The pig stares back at the chicken and replies, “No way.” The chicken asks, “Why not?” To which the pig states, “Because for you it’s a contribution, but for me it’s my life.”
This is the same way many Christians are. They are only willing to throw an egg toward God and after they do that, they think they should get a martyrs crown! God doesn’t desire a mere contribution to His kingdom, He desires that we fully surrender our lives to Him!
What is one thing, that you struggle to sacrifice and give up to God? Post it in the comments below
C. It’s easy though for us to say “God understands” or “God knows my heart”. Yeah, he understands that you are carrying an idol in your heart that you just won’t let go or that your heart is desperately wicked and sinful.
D. Abel had a faith that sacrificed. That brought the very best to God and we should too!
Look for our next video soon on, how to have a faith that walks!
