(Afrikaanse Ou Vertaling)
(NRSV)
41 and if anyone forces you to go one mile, go also the second mile.
3. Die krag van God. Verseker het Jesus gesê. “Sonder My kan julle niks doen nie!!’
Just about a decade before Jesus came to this earth the Roman senate had passed a law this law read, "In any conquered province within the Roman Empire, soilders may compel able bodied men to bear their burden one mile, but no more."
Wees die held in die verhaal. “The new standard (of Jesus)—It commands no resistance to, or retaliation for, evil but cheerful submission to it.[1]”
· To love ones neighbor is the first mile, to love ones enemy is the second mile.
· To bless those who bless you is the first mile, to bless those who curse you is the second mile.
· To do good to those who do good to you is the first mile to do good to those who hate you is the second mile.
· Praying for those who pray for you is the first mile and praying for those who despitefully use you is the second mile.
· The Pharisees lived in the first mile and Christians live in the second mile.
1. En elkeen wat van jou
2. een εἷς heis one. Sense: one (single unit) – used of a single unit or thing; not two or more.
3. myl μίλιον milion a (Roman) mile. Sense: Roman mile – a thousand paces or eight stadia (i.e., 4,854 feet or 1,478.5 meters, BAGD).[2]
4. afdwing, Futuristies aktiewe indikatief. ἀγγαρεύω angareuō requisition. Sense: to requisition – to demand and take for use or service; especially by military or public authority for public service. “The word is of Persian origin and means public couriers or mounted messengers (ἀγγαροι [aggaroi]) who were stationed by the King of Persia at fixed localities, with horses ready for use, to send royal messages from one to another. So if a man is passing such a post-station, an official may rush out and compel him to go back to another station to do an errand for the king. This was called impressment into service. This very thing was done to Simon of Cyrene who was thus compelled to carry the cross of Christ (, ἠγγαρευσαν [ēggareusan]).[3]” “The basis for this rendering is the verb forces, which in Greek is a technical term used of pressing into service, whether military or civil[4]” ““if anyone makes you help him on the road” or “if anyone makes you carry his things.”[5]”
5. Loop. ὑπάγω hypagō go away; go Teenswoordige aktiewe imperatief. Sense: to go (travel) – to change location; move, travel, or proceed, also metaphorically
6. Met hom twee myl saam. “The right thing, Jesus says, is not only to put up cheerfully with the unreasonable and disliked demand, but to go well beyond what is asked[6]” “a readiness to submit to unreasonable demands of whatever kind…[7]”
What Jesus is saying is: “Don’t be always thinking of your liberty to do as you like; ….. When a task is laid on you, even if the task is unreasonable and hateful, don’t do it as a grim duty to be resented; do it as a service to be gladly rendered.”[8]
“There are always two ways of doing things.
A man can do the irreducible minimum and not a stroke more;
he can do it in such a way as to make it clear that he hates the whole thing;
he can do it with the barest minimum of efficiency and no more;
or he can do it with a smile, with a gracious courtesy, with a determination, not only to do this thing, but to do it well and graciously.
He can do it, not simply as well as he has to, but far better than anyone has any right to expect him to.
The inefficient workman, the resentful servant, the ungracious helper have not even begun to have the right idea of the Christian life.
The Christian is not concerned to do as he likes; he is concerned only to help, even when the demand for help is discourteous, unreasonable and tyrannical.[9]”
In julle geval is dit ook so. ”
1. ATTENDING CHURCH IS THE FIRST MILE
Attending Church and Sitting here warming a seat is your reasonable service, it is the FIRST MILE but getting involved in the Music, bible Studies, and Shouting Praise to God is the Second Mile! "You have done that which is your duty..." It is not until you are an integral part of the service that you begin the second mile.
Not until you use your voice to encourage someone to Christ... You can at least encourage the preacher by shouting Amen! Amen, simply means, I agree! When you shout Amen, you tell everyone that hears, "I agree!"
2. TITHING IS THE FIRST MILE.
God commands us to "bring the full tithe into the storehouse..." The tithe makes us all equal, no matter what our economic status. 10 Percent is 10 percent, no matter how much money you make. Some have NEVER gone the First Mile when it comes to tithing.
• Will a man rob God?
• God says you’re a thief!
• God loves a cheerful giver is not talking about the tithe.
• Tithing is the First Mile!
• Giving above your Tithe is the Second Mile!
3. READING THE BIBLE IS THE FIRST MILE.
============================
Reading and studying the Bible is the DUTY of every Christian. It is not just a good idea, it’s a command of God. Every time I read it, I see something new. It is an amazing book. It never ceases to encourage me and help me. But, even if wasn’t exciting and amazing, it is still OUR DUTY to read the Bible.
4. TELLING OTHERS ABOUT JESUS AND INVITING THEM TO CHURCH IS JUST THE FIRST MILE!
Every born-again believer should want his friends and family to be saved. If we really believe that those who do not receive Christ will burn forever in the lake of fire. If we really believe in eternal salvation for the saved ones and eternal damnation for the lost ones. If we really believe in a hell with fire and torments! HOW COULD WE NOT TELL OUR LOVED ONES ABOUT CHRIST’S DELIVERANCE? I want all my family to know what I know.
1. DIT IS ONS PLIG!
------------------------
• DIT IS JOU PLIG OM KERK GEREELD BY TE WOON!
• DIT IS JOU PLIG OM 10% TE GEE AAN GOD SE WERK!
• DIT IS JOU PLIG OM JOU BYBEL DEUR TE LEES!
• DIT IS JOU PLIG OM MENSE OOR JESUS TE VERTEL!
2. WAT IS IN DIE TWEEDE MYL?
1. DIE TWEEDE MYL IS 'N EENSAME PAD
2. 2. DIE TWEEDE MYL EINDIG NOOIT
3. 3. DIE TWEEDE MYL SAL ALTYD ONDER AANVAL WEES
4. 4. DIE TWEEDE MYL IS 'N BAIE MOEILIKE PAD
5. 5. DIE TWEEDE MYL LEI TOT VREUGDE.
6. 6. DIE TWEEDE MYL LEI TOT BELONINGS
3. DIE TWEEDE MYL SAL SLEGS DEUR DIEGENE WAT HEILIG IS, GEREIS WORD
============================================================
