Prayer Doesn’t always yield the results we want.

Example: Abraham sacrifice of Isaac - what we think it should look like.
God comes in and provides a perfect answer- He always provides the perfect answer, but not always what we pray for. Sometimes despite prayer we lose it all.

Why would we lose it all?

But that isn’t very reassuring!
Not here to reassure you, here to equip you.
Lose it all so that God can bring redemption for our loved ones.
Joseph and the Pharaoh
Lose it all so that God can bring redemption (newness) for you
Job- loss of everything but redemption - improvement for self
Lose it all for a grand scheme which is beyond us.
Stephen

So then what’s the point?

Understand that you’ve been sold a bill of goods. You don’t ALWAYS get what you want - even when you pray for it.
Learn to graciously receive the peace of God to walk through the loss in life. Key on grace. (Paul and his thorn in the flesh)
Humble yourself. (Jesus humbled Himself to death on the cross)
Change your perspective.
In regard to eternity
In regard to the entirety of humanity
In regard to the ultimate goal God has for each of us
Embrace the grace He pours out in the midst of the loss
Look for (or forward to) the blessing on the other side
