How do you know when God’s is trying to get your attention? Here are 7 ways that God may be trying to get your attention...
How do you know when God’s is trying to get your attention?

#1 Your Friends are Confronting You

Your real friends will tell you the truth, and it’s not always what you want to hear, but the proverbs teaches in,
Proverbs 27:6 ESV
Faithful are the wounds of a friend; profuse are the kisses of an enemy.
so sometimes God will send friends into your life who are trying to get your attention over something you’re doing.
If a friend sees a friend living in sin and says nothing, then that person is not really their friend.
Do you have friends?
Have they been trying to tell you something?
God may be using them to get your attention.

#2 The Word of God Convicts You

Students of the Bible know that
and that the Word of God exposes us all as guilty before God.
Hebrews 4:12 ESV
For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
Nothing is hidden from our God in (), the very next verse the Bible says...
Hebrews 4:13 ESV
And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.
so if you read some Bible verses that really convict you deeply, God may be trying to tell you something, and using His written Word to do it.
Whatever it was that convicted you may be what God’s trying to get your attention for.
To not read and study God’s Word is mans attempt to ignore God.
What is

#3 A Financial Storm

Every one has times in their lives when they encounter storms.
Sometimes we don’t even see them coming and we’re blindsided,
but other times we see it coming,
but we’re still helpless to do anything about it.
Is that you?
Is God using a financial difficulty to get your attention?
Have you not been giving to others…
or to even, anyone?
Maybe it’s something else.
Getting near the bottom dollar is scary.
To have more month left when the money runs out is an attention grabber.
Upside down living should wake us up and stir us to pay attention.
Jeremiah 29:11 ESV
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
jer
Yet we ignore the very one who may be trying to get your attention.
We work more and have less, that certainly sounds like a thing of God.
Haggai 1:6 ESV
You have sown much, and harvested little. You eat, but you never have enough; you drink, but you never have your fill. You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm. And he who earns wages does so to put them into a bag with holes.
hag
God can use a Financial storm to get your attention.
That will get your attention.

#4 A Lack of Peace

There’s a story of a man who was thinking about going on a missionary trip to South America.
He was prepared, well equipped, and had raised all the funds necessary (as missionaries sometimes do),
but as he got closer to departure,
he didn’t have peace about it.
He couldn’t explain it, but he knew he wasn’t supposed to go on this trip.
He ends up not going, and his wife falls terribly ill.
If he had left, he would have left behind his spouse who at the time was not gravely ill.
When you don’t have peace about something, it may be God telling you, “No,” “Wait” or “I’ve got something better.”
Philippians 4:7 ESV
And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Phi
For those who pursue God and His Will, Peace is a natural by product.

#5 A Damascus Road Experience

Sometimes it takes a “Damascus Road” experience to knock us on the ground and put temporary limits on us, like Jesus did Saul.
Saul was blinded for three days until he could finally see,
and you know that must have gotten Saul’s attention.
Saul was later renamed Paul, because Saul means “destroyer,” which he was for a time with the church,
but now, having had to be humbled by the blinding light of Jesus’ Shekinah glory,
he would have to depend on others for a time.
God may not send a “Damascus Road” encounter like Paul’s,
however that encounter can look like any number of different things
(DUI, Car Accident, Prison, Cancer, Diabetes, etc.).
It never hurts us to consider God’s message in any given circumstance.

#6 A Divine Appointment

There is the story told of a prisoner who a church ministered to and he was really down because he was sent from a county jail to a state prison and he couldn’t figure out why God was doing this.
It was only later that he and the church both saw what God was doing.
He had allowed this man to go to a state prison so that when visited later, the entire prison allowed the church to minister to all who sought counsel or biblical guidance.
The prison even allowed the church to preach to the inmates,
so when this man’s apparent evil sent him to a prison,
and neither he nor church could understand,
it was only later that both saw God wanted them to go into this prison as we’re commanded to do ().
God was trying to get the gospel into the prison but He had to use another means for entry,
so what looked like a bad thing for this inmate brought much good to those who may have never heard the gospel preached
Remember Joseph’s story? ().
Genesis 50:20 ESV
As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today.
It was a financial storm and A Divine Appointment that brought me to the Ministry.
God has a way of getting our attention!

#7 Death

How can the death of a person be used by God to get someone’s attention?
The fact is, we will never see our loved ones again unless we obey God’s Word.
a few came up to me after the service and ask me about what I said.
The person who is laid to rest who has trusted and obeyed Christ shall live again
Jesus said, even if a person dies, they will live again (),
John 11:25–26 ESV
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?”
so our only hope of seeing our loved one again is if we put our trust in Jesus and obey His commands.
Then, not even death can separate us from the love of God ().
Romans 8:37–39 ESV
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
For those that are in Christ, the death of a family member or friend is not goodbye
but “See you later,”
however for the person who rejects Christ,
that is the last time they will ever see their loved one because they will be with the Lord
and the lost person will forever be cut off from God.

God’s Plan of Reunion

If we want to see Shannon again, trust and obey the Word of God which is trying to get your attention.
He has a plan for our reunion which begins by faith...
You see faith comes by hearing God’s Word.
Romans 10:17 ESV
So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
That Word of and about Jesus the Christ must be believed a belief that produces action...
Hebrews 11:6 ESV
And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
When one Hears and Believes God’s Word there will be some changes necessary to make. God calls us where we’re at a place we’ve determined to be to a place where God determines us to be...
Luke 13:3 ESV
No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.
Now after we are willing to be where God determines, which is repentance then...
Romans 10:9–10 ESV
because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
Paul recounted his Damascus Road experience that got his attention and we’re told in
Acts 22:16 ESV
And now why do you wait? Rise and be baptized and wash away your sins, calling on his name.’
When one puts his trust and obedience in Jesus he must do so always...
1 Corinthians 15:58 ESV
Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.
Hopefully God won’t have to take such drastic measures to get our attention but He must do it if we keep ignoring Him.
Hopefully God won’t have to take such drastic measures to get my attention but He must do it if I keep ignoring Him. Living in sin will bring God’s discipline, but it’s a discipline that is motivated out of love and not anger. Any parent who loves their child will prove their love by disciplining them, and so when we see that God is trying to get our attention, we had better take notice, otherwise, God might shake our life up a little more until we fall on our knees. If I keep praying and reading the Bible every day, it may help, but don’t forget about your friends who love you, and in their love, they seem concerned about something you’re doing. Friends are born for such adversity ().
So when we see that God is trying to get our attention, we had better take notice, otherwise, God might shake our life up a little more until we fall on our knees and come to him.
