The Bible is an amazing book. The Bible claims to be alive and powerful. No other book is alive. Other books can change your thinking; the Bible changes your nature.

Psalm 19:7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. 8 The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.

I.       The Bible is Perfect.

A.      “the law of the Lord” – scripture.

B.      “perfect” – complete truth.

C.      “soul” (nepesh) – the total person; the real you. Not the body but what’s inside.

§  You may be saying, “I don’t want to change”. They you are not going to be interested in the Bible.

§  If you are content with the way you are you aren’t going to look the Bible for a way to change.

§  But if you’re aware of your guilt, want to get rid of your anxiety, have emptiness in your heart, some longing that has never been satisfied – then you are just the person to look into the word of God determine if it can do what it claims it can do.

§  Millions are living proof that it can. It does it through the power of Christ, the One who died and rose again for you.

II.    The Bible is Sure.

A.      “sure” – trustworthy, reliable.

B.      “making wise the simple” – simple is from (pethi) and means “open-minded”.

§  The ancient Jews described it as someone whose mind was like an open door: everything went in and everything went out.

§  This type of person does not know what to keep out and what to keep in. he is undiscerning, naïve, and unable to evaluate truth.

§  He has no standards to go by.

C.      Wisdom to the Jew was the skill of daily living.

§  The Bible can take a naïve, undiscerning unskilled person and make him skilled in every aspect of daily living. What a great promise!

§  You can take scripture, or tools like topical analysis books, and find scripture to deal with every area of daily life.

§  How does that happen? Not just by reading the words of scripture, but by committing your life to the Author of the book. He comes to live in you and applies the truth of the word to your life.

III. The Bible is Right.

A.      Those times in your life when you don’t know what direction to take – study His word and suddenly He lays out the path before you.

B.      Even difficulty brings satisfaction, because it creates a way in which God can show Himself faithful.

C.      Luke 11:28 But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.

D.      There are those who believe God wants to zap everybody; that He wants to rain on everybody’s parade. But that is not true. He know how you operate best; and what truly makes you happy. He gives you not just an external happiness, but a happiness that is from within.

IV.  The Bible is Pure.

A.      Pure (bar) – clear. Because I know the Bible, things in life are clear to me.

B.      I can go to a Christian who is facing death and see a joy in their face. Why? Because the Bible has taught them a hope that is beyond the grave. It is clear to them.

C.      Do you have that kind of hope? Can you look death in the eye and say, “this is not the end?”
