It is indeed a great privilege and an honor to be with you’ll this morning once again and to share with you the message of joy and hope we all can have if we come to Jesus.
1 “Come, everyone who thirsts,
come to the waters;
and he who has no money,
come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without price.
2 Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread,
and your labor for that which does not satisfy?
Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good,
and delight yourselves in rich food.
3 Incline your ear, and come to me;
hear, that your soul may live;
and I will make with you an everlasting covenant,
my steadfast, sure love for David.
4 Behold, I made him a witness to the peoples,
a leader and commander for the peoples.
5 Behold, you shall call a nation that you do not know,
and a nation that did not know you shall run to you,
because of the Lord your God, and of the Holy One of Israel,
for he has glorified you.
6 “Seek the Lord while he may be found;
call upon him while he is near;
7 let the wicked forsake his way,
and the unrighteous man his thoughts;
let him return to the Lord, that he may have compassion on him,
and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
Just last week we had a car issue , my wife was driving the kids back from a class and all of a sudden there was this dense, pungent , ugly smell followed by a red warning from the car’s computer system, “High Engine Temperature. Stop Safely!” So she did immediately, gave me a call. I rushed to the scene , raised the hood to find the coolant was boiling hot and then noticed there was also a huge leak. The next day after the engine had cooled down, I decided to drive to the mechanic, fully aware of the risk that I could blow up my engine. Well after driving for about 3 miles I got the same warning “High Engine Temperature. Stop Safely!” . I stopped for a bit, prayed for a bit and then may be after 5 minutes tried again, this time I drove for about 2 miles and the warning came again, “High Engine Temperature. Stop Safely!”....huh…I was tired of this. I then took another break , prayed yet gain and hoped that I could get to the mechanic , the mechanic was still about 12 miles away by the way. I drove again, this time I drove for about a mile and the warning came again! The warning kept coming and coming and coming, no matter how many breaks I took . I then decided to call AAA and tow the car to the mechanic which off course comes at a cost.
So many warnings.....it was the same for the people of God during the time of Isaiah. Isaiah spoke on the behalf of God to the people of Jerusalem more than 2500 years . He spoke first of all a message of judgement and warned Israel's leaders that their rebellion against God’s covenant would come at a cost. Much like my car experience, the Israelites were warned time and time again as we read through the prophets in the OT and through the book of Isaiah to Stop Sinning and obey God’s law and we are no different .
We are by nature sinful . Our conscious wants us to do other things rather than thinking about God and obeying Him....
You may be too busy with your life that you forget the more important things
You are so entertained that you get carried away with the pleasures this life has to offer that we forget our joy in the Lord
You may be so self sufficient, at least you may think you are that you forget about God and think you are independent. We all need to STOP and COME.
Today I want to give you 3 exhortations from our passage on why we should STOP and COME to Him and here is the Hope that Isaiah gives
Exhortation number 1. Stop and Come to Him - because of His Covenant, because of His Promises we read in :
ESV3 Incline your ear, and come to me; hear, that your soul may live; and I will make with you an everlasting covenant, my steadfast, sure love for David.

What is this covenant ? In the first half of the book of Isaiah, we see Isaiah is speaking to a vile and wicked nation. To a nation whose idolatry , perversion and harlotry is so great that they have been cast out of the promised land , they have been severely punished and disciplined, carried off into exile left there without any hope except for God’s promises, his covenants, where God makes promises in exchange for the people’s commitments / obedience. One of them is God’s everlasting covenant with Abram that we read in also referred to in . , “And I will establish my covenant between me and you and your offspring after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and to your offspring after you.” This is further developed in

17 I will surely bless you, and I will surely multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven and as the sand that is on the seashore. And your offspring shall possess the gate of his enemies, 18 and in your offspring shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, because you have obeyed my voice.”

And your offspring shall possess the gate of his enemies, 18 and in your offspring shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, because you have obeyed my voice.”
God’s blessing to the nations is mentioned here as well .Question we must ask now is how does this blessing come to all nations ? And that brings us to...
Exhortation number 2. Stop and Come - because of His Witness, because of The King, Jesus!
Isiaih 55:4
4 Behold, I made him a witness to the peoples,
a leader and commander for the peoples.
God’s blessing on all nations comes to us by one way and that’s through His Witness, referred to also as the Servant in whom god delights().He is the chosen one, the Messiah , King Jesus.
God’s blessing on all nations comes to us by one way and that’s through His Witness, referred to also as the Servant in whom god delights().He is the chosen one, the Messiah , King Jesus.
How do we know that Jesus is our Witness? We read this in the Gospel of John when Pilate questions Jesus and this is about 2000 years ago. Let me read that for you.
37 Then Pilate said to him, “So you are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. For this purpose I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world—to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.”
ESV3 You have said, “I have made a covenant with my chosen one; I have sworn to David my servant: 4 ‘I will establish your offspring forever, and build your throne for all generations.’ ” Selah
This truth is nothing but revealing to us of God in His Son, who is the truth. Jesus says in
…it says in …I have made a covenant with my chosen one; I have sworn to David my servant....and then if you go down to verse 27,
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Jesus is our David, the firstborn , the preeminent one , to whom all things belong as puts it
ESV27 And I will make him the firstborn, the highest of the kings of the earth.
… the firstborn here is referring to the preeminent one mentioned also in , where Paul says of Jesus in vs 15-16
...we read that God will make David the firstborn the highest of kings of all the earth. But we know David was actually the youngest son of Jesse , so it is quite evident that the firstborn the Psalmist is referring to here is not actually David but actually the chosen one, the Messiah , the highest of kings, “the KING OF KINGS” … the firstborn here is referring to the preeminent one mentioned also in , where Paul says of Jesus in vs 15-16
15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. 16 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.
Jesus is our David, our Witness !! But why this Witness? As we’ve seen the book of Isaiah rebuke, after rebuke , after rebuke, Israel is judged and rightfully so, it seems like every promise was taken from them , God then eventually used the great empires of Assyria and after that Babylon to judge Jerusalem and there seemed no hope. God’s justice was screaming out against a wicked people and then all of a sudden we read about the Messiah who appears on the scene in the later 40s and then into the early 50’s of the book of Isaiah, the Messiah goes on a tree , bears their sins, there is hope, the redeemer is here. God had from all eternity past devised a plan for the redemption of the world through the sufferings of his only-begotten Son, Jesus Christ. Each one of us can come to Him.You may be going through doubt , anguish and there may be even some hatred on how things have turned out but we on this side of the cross know His name . He does a work of salvation that no man can fathom. He was crushed under the full force of the Father’s wrath, satisfying God’s justice by His death, and conquering it by His resurrection which makes it possible for a just God to forgive a wicked people like us.

1 Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

The Lord promises that He himself will be the magnet drawing the Nations into the covenanted Davidic blessings…the nations will come because of the Holy One of Israel
We come because God calls us. The Israelites were absolutely destitute of virtue and merit, they have virtually nothing to give, they can pay for nothing ! Yet God says Come, there is hope. And no this is not a message of Good Health or Wealth and prosperity that this world has to offer , things that are temporary that come and go but it is something much more substantial, far more important and that which is everlasting, that which “satisfies” for all eternity, and that is our forgiveness and everlasting life with our God through the redemption offered to us in His Son Jesus. The invitation is not only for the Jews but for everyone who thirsts. Everyone can Come !
I’m reminded of the story of the rich young Ruler where a young man asks Jesus What must he to to inherit eternal life ? Jesus then goes on to say. “ You know the commandments: ‘Do not murder, Do not commit adultery, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Do not defraud, Honor your father and mother.’” , to which the young ruler responded that he had kept all those commandments. the passage then says that Jesus looking at him , loved him and said to him, “You lack one thing: go, sell all that you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.” the man had great possession , he went away sorrowful.
treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.” the man had great possession , he went away sorrowful.
This Rich man had everything but he lacked the most important thing, his wholehearted surrender and commitment to the Lord. He could not COME to Jesus because he loved his possessions more than anything else
1 “Come, everyone who thirsts,
come to the waters;
and he who has no money,
come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without price.
