Sowing to the Spirit

Exodus 15:26 KJV 1900
And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the Lord that healeth thee.
ex 15:
How is God the answer?
In , Paul says that he that sows to the Spirit will reap never ending life.
What does it mean to sow? How do we plant seed?
It is intentional...
Our thoughts, words & actions
Thoughts -The meditations of our heart, our imaginations
Words -spoken to others, spoken to our self, prayer to God
Action -seen & unseen, laying up treasures in heaven, walking in love
There is time between sowing & reaping...
It is a position of the heart where we are trusting that God is bigger than every situation, believing that all things are working together for the good of those who trust him
It is resisting the pleasures of the flesh (thorns) so that the fruit of the Spirit can grow and mature
Matthew 13:22 KJV 1900
22 He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.
Matt. 13:
We can only do any of this effectively if we have discernment
Humility & brokenness attract God’s grace
If we seek for Him, for Wisdom, with all our heart
James 5:
James 5:16 KJV 1900
Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
Humility & brokenness attract God’s grace
Psalm 34:18 KJV 1900
The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; And saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
2 Timothy 3:1–5 KJV 1900
This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

Walking in the Spirit

2
What does it look like to walk in the Spirit?
1 John 1:7 KJV 1900
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
How do we mind spiritual things?
How do we mind spiritual things?
How do we hear what the Spirit is saying to the church?
Be still and know…that I am God
What has God placed in your heart to care about? To minister to?
How can you minister love

Abiding in the Spirit

Once we have received the Spirit of God, how do we continue on in the Spirit?
How do we abide in his presence?
One question to consider is what type of life pleases Him?
Psalm 15 KJV 1900
A Psalm of David. 1 Lord, Who shall abide in thy tabernacle? Who shall dwell in thy holy hill? 2 He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, And speaketh the truth in his heart. 3 He that backbiteth not with his tongue, Nor doeth evil to his neighbour, Nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour. 4 In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; But he honoureth them that fear the Lord. He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not. 5 He that putteth not out his money to usury, Nor taketh reward against the innocent. He that doeth these things shall never be moved.
Ps 15
Contemned = despised, the opposite of esteem
These actions and attitudes come from a heart that is abiding in the Spirit
Phil 4:4-9
Philippians 4:4–9 KJV 1900
4 Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. 5 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. 6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. 9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.
Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.
Amplified Bible Chapter 4

4 Rejoice in the Lord always [delight, gladden yourselves in Him]; again I say, Rejoice!

Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.
Amplified Bible Chapter 4

5 Let all men know and perceive and recognize your unselfishness (your considerateness, your forbearing spirit). The Lord is near [He is coming soon].

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
Amplified Bible Chapter 4

Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.

Amplified Bible Chapter 4

6 Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Amplified Bible Chapter 4

7 And God’s peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Finally, brethren,

-praise (valor -excellence)
if there be any praise,
-(a commendable thing)

-(to take inventory), recon, account
Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

Hebrews 11:6 KJV 1900
