20. THE JUSTICE OF GOD

THE FAITHFULNESS OF GOD

I was thinking the other evening about the faithfulness of God, a topic I believe we all talk about from time to time.
We reflect on it, we give thanks to God for his faithfulness in our lives and in the lives of others and yes, we even pray for the steadfastness of life that we could be faithful as well.
But what does the term mean? Well it means - remaining loyal and steadfast.
Now how does that apply to God?
remaining loyal and steadfast.
Faithfulness is one of the characteristics of God's ethical nature. It denotes the firmness or constancy of God in His relations with men, especially with His people. It is, accordingly, one aspect of God's truth and of His unchangeableness.

THE FAITHFULNESS OF GOD

Let me share three passages with you that explain or relate to that idea a little better than me just telling you perhaps.. The first is and the second is and lastly I Corinthians 1:9
“Know therefore that the Lord thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations.”—
“Know therefore that the Lord thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations.”—
“I will sing of the mercies of the Lord for ever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations.”
Notice the words of Paul, “God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of His Son Jesus Christ our Lord.”—.
Those are just three verses that relate to the idea of God’s faithfulness…
So when we think about all the Lord does for us, I want to encourage you to praise Him as we think about just a few ways that God is faithful.
I. FAITHFUL IN SAVING
Peter tells of “the faithful creator”—.
I. FAITHFUL IN SAVING
God is faithful in saving, it is not a a select few, it isnt for the cream of the crop so to speak, He has promised to save all who call upon His name. He is faithful unto that end
A. Promise—. None will be turned away, who call upon Him.
John 6:37 ESV
37 All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out.
In John chapter 6 we see the miracle of the feed of the 5000. People have been following Jesus, some are seeking truth and some are seeking a show, but in either case as they stand before Jesus this day and He feeds them.
And it is toward the end of the chapter that Jesus speaks to them that He is the bread of life, He is that manna that has come down from heaven to sustain them always, verse 33.
And as the people listen to Jesus, He assures them, those who take hold of the bread of life, will never hunger or thirst, he promises complete safety for those who come to him.
Faithful to keep and save..
B. Pardon—He forgives all our iniquities! Let me share with you Psalm 103;3
Psalm 103:3 ESV
3 who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases,
In , the psalmist is calling on us to bless and praise the Lord, we are called to forget none of His benefits, and think of this my friends, One of those great benefits is the truth that he forgives our iniquity, all of it.
The word iniquity there in the Hebrew refers to all our evil behavior, all of those wrongs in life. He takes hold of us and cleanses us of all unrighteousness. The word diseases, the greatest of which is our soul sickness, being separated from the Father because of sin/ Yet he takes us and makes us whole again,
That falls in life with the idea of Purging, where by our sins are removed stripped from us and made white as snow…
Isaiah 1:18 ESV
18 “Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.
;
He pardons, cleanses and stripes away all our sins, faults and in Jesus we are found be be acceptable to Him.
C. Anyone and Everyone is Saved
Let me share , verse 25 with you.
Hebrews 7:25 ESV
25 Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.
Why is this important to us, at times we or others think that there is no way God would or could love us… but he can my friends and He does
and then we see the testimony that God desires that all would be saved, let me share with you
1 Timothy 2:4 ESV
4 who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
And then consider this, the Scriptures tell us that he transforms us, our sin and guilt are forgiven, the stains of sin, our iniquities are forgiven..
Listen to what the Lord told the prophet Isaiah about the transformation of life and what happens to our sin.
Isaiah 1:18 ESV
18 “Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.
Isaiah 1:18
Isaiah says let us reason together, have your mind changed perhaps if you are on the other side of the fence, yes your sins, your trangressions have left us dirty, mired in sin, the blood of Jesus is the cleansing agent.
So sins have marked us in a way, scarlet and crimson, that there is no way to hide it or get the stain out, the garments are literal ruined.
B. Pardon—. Notice He forgives all our iniquities!
We were ruined before Christ come into our lives my friend, we were ruined indeed.
But the saving power of Jesus Christ has a way to change man, from the dirtiest of creatures to the brightest of saints, because there is power in the blood
Listen to what John says in :7
I
1 John 1:7 ESV
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.
And when we fail at times, He is there to help us… I john1:9
1 John 1:9 ESV
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:8–9 ESV
8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
I John 1:8=
And in His faithfulness we are secure until the end
2 Timothy 1:12 ESV
12 which is why I suffer as I do. But I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that he is able to guard until that day what has been entrusted to me.
