Go, He’s Sending You
Go, I’m Sending You
Contemporary resort airport shuttle story
-there is a big difference between showing up and being sent
-originally I showed up and asked for a favor, but eventually I was sent with an order
Yes Jesus came to save you, but He also came to send you
-he came to give you hope, freedom, blessing, anointing, baptism of the HS, peace, patience, goodness....but also a calling.
Verse 1) “Now Moses was tending the flock”
-The tending moment lead him to the sending moment
-The serving moment led to the sending moment
-God sends the servant
-David fighting Goliath
Verse 4) “Moses, Moses”
-God called him by name—twice
-In our culture it would just be weird but in their culture, this was significant
-In Hebrew culture, if you said someone’s name once, it meant that you knew them, but if you said their name twice, it meant that you loved them
-When God called Moses, He wasn’t speaking from a place of acquaintance, He was speaking from a place of affection
-When God calls you, He doesn’t just address you from position of acquaintance but of affection
Verse 4) “Here I Am”
your reputation doesn’t have to control your response
You have the ability to respond contrary to your reputation
-Called into ministry Indianapolis
-I wasn’t there for the right reasons but I had an encounter with the right person and ultimately had the right response
Moses responded to the burning bush by stoping and listening—then he approached Egypt with boldness
His reputation said he would be afraid but his response said “I’m confident”.
Your reputation may say “you can’t commit” but your response can be commitment.
Your reputation may say “you are weak” but your response may be from a place of strength
Your reputation may say “I cannot say no to temptation” but your response can be a no to temptation because you have said yes to Jesus
Your reputation doesn’t dictate your response because once you know Jesus your response can come from a place of redemption.
-A place of renewal.
-
Verse 11) “But who am I that I should go?”
-Recognition always happens before revelation
-Englewood baseball
-God knows what's in our hands when He speaks to our hearts
-God knows what we lack and still calls us to lead
-Because when we trust him with what we do have God will make up for what we don't have
-By the time God reveals His plan he has already recognized your potential
Verse 12) “I Will Be With You”
-Moses wasn’t being called to do the hardest part—God was going to do it.
-Moses wasn’t called to manufacture the power, he was being called to manage the power.
-Moses wasn’t being asked to manufacture the plan, he was simply called to manage the plan
-So why was Moses panicking?
-Because Moses had tried to help the Israelites once before—40 years earlier.
-but without the power of God
-As long as God was with him, Moses wasn’t having to push, he was simply having to guide
-Self propelled lawn mowing story
-The first time I exerted a lot more energy, it took a lot more time, and I experienced a lot more pain.
-But once I pulled the self propelling lever I wasn’t pushing the mower, I was just guiding it.
-I was no longer manufacturing momentum, I was just managing it.
