Define: doctrine of inspiration
Details of the common view of the doctrine of inspiration
Note the claim that the doctrine of inspiration includes the Lord using the characteristics of the human author
Point: note that “how” something is said provides relevant meaning, and not just “what” is said
Issue: all to often we seek to know the “facts” of Scripture

However, God could have, but did not, provided a list of doctrines. Instead, he presented persuasive (inspired) writings that also included the requisite facts.
Goal: show the significance of “how” something is said
, argument inviting the listener to draw the conclusion him/herself.

That “how” something is said in Scripture is also part of the inspiration of the text (and not just “what” is said).
Vss 1-3: Peter tells the believers that there will be (assurance of a fact) false teachers among them.

Peter did not simply state the “facts.”
Stating the facts would look something like this:
God is sovereign and will take care of you.
God has taken care of more people with bigger challenges so He is able to easily take care of your. Do not be concerned just do your part and stay away from the false teachers.
Peter certainly could have replied in a succinct fashion as this. In fact, this is the substance of what Peter states in verses 4-10a. However,
