Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is one of three persons in the Godhead: Father, Son and Holy Spirit
Jesus has given us the Spirit in the name of the Father
* The Holy Spirit is one of three persons in the Godhead: Father, Son and Holy Spirit
Holy Spirit is the enabler of our walk in Christ
The Holy Spirit is one of three persons in the Godhead: Father, Son and Holy Spirit
He is involved in every part of our new life in God - when we choose to be a follower of Jesus
Acts 2:38 NIV
Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus
very important to have our sins forgiven so that Christ can cloaked us in holiness
we no longer have the taint of sin in our life
we are clean vessels in which the Spirit can now reside
Spirit Living in Us
Romans 8:11 NIV
And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.
Romans 8:
the Spirit is now living in us
The Spirit is now testifying that we are God’s children (verse 16) with the full inheritance of God’s kingdom
it is not an understatement that we do not fully comprehend the totality of the Spirit
we cannot fathom God, neither can we fathom how he works within us
What we know - who we are after we confess Jesus as Lord is totally different to before
We are of a completely different mindset and purpose
Fruit of the Spirit
Galatians 5:22–23 NIV
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Galatians 5:22
here are nine characteristics of Christ that now appear in our lives
these develop in us as we mature into Christ
these are not sequential but develop together
these are the characteristics by which our words and deeds now have the power to change lives and destiny
no point in having power if we do not have love and mercy
Galatians 5:25 NIV
Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.
Galatians 5:
we have this request - keep in step with the Spirit
another way of saying it is to live as Jesus lived
God wants us to live different lives - lives that are full of destiny and purpose and goodness
A life radically different from what we used to do
John 3:34 NIV
For the one whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God gives the Spirit without limit.
the Spirit is given without limit
the very presence of God 100% fully given
this fullness is only restrained by our willingness to allow the Spirit to function without hindrance from our flesh and mind
each one of us must decide to let the Spirit control our minds - we need to want godliness
God understands hence the promise of Jesus
John 14:25 NIV
“All this I have spoken while still with you.
John 14:26 NIV
But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
Christ has sent the Holy Spirit
this was always the plan for the full redemption of man
we have this great resource of truth and power
let us grab hold of it and not let go
Acts 10:44–45 NIV
While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message. The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on Gentiles.
Spirit
of holiness
of truth
of power
of spiritual gifts
of ministry
this is our Holy Spirit
let us get excited about him
let him do what he was given to us to do
let us be full of the Spirit
let us be baptized and filled continually with the Spirit
