Intro: One of the strongest proofs of the Bible is internal evidence.
Intro: One of the strongest proofs of the Bible is internal evidence.

I) God is consistent in His dealings with man

Doctrine of God
One God – ; ; ; – although the popular thought at the time of writing, in all levels, was polytheistic
Genesis 1:1 ESV
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
Isaiah 46:9 ESV
remember the former things of old; for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me,
Acts 14:15 ESV
“Men, why are you doing these things? We also are men, of like nature with you, and we bring you good news, that you should turn from these vain things to a living God, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all that is in them.
Ephesians 4:7 ESV
But grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ’s gift.
God is creator – ; ;
Genesis 1:1 ESV
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
Hebrews 11:3 ESV
By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.
Hebrews 1:2 ESV
but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world.
God is just – ; – in words of others –
Genesis 18:25 ESV
Far be it from you to do such a thing, to put the righteous to death with the wicked, so that the righteous fare as the wicked! Far be that from you! Shall not the Judge of all the earth do what is just?”
Habakkuk 1:12–13 ESV
Are you not from everlasting, O Lord my God, my Holy One? We shall not die. O Lord, you have ordained them as a judgment, and you, O Rock, have established them for reproof. You who are of purer eyes than to see evil and cannot look at wrong, why do you idly look at traitors and remain silent when the wicked swallows up the man more righteous than he?
Romans 3:26 ESV
It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
God is merciful – ;
Numbers 14:18 ESV
‘The Lord is slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, forgiving iniquity and transgression, but he will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, to the third and the fourth generation.’
Romans 11:30–32 ESV
For just as you were at one time disobedient to God but now have received mercy because of their disobedience, so they too have now been disobedient in order that by the mercy shown to you they also may now receive mercy. For God has consigned all to disobedience, that he may have mercy on all.
Doctrine of man
Man is sinful – ;
Genesis 3:1–6 ESV
Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden’?” And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden, but God said, ‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.’ ” But the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate.
Romans 3:23 ESV
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Man needs God and the tree of life – – only God can restore the tree of life to man – ; ;
Genesis 3:24 ESV
He drove out the man, and at the east of the garden of Eden he placed the cherubim and a flaming sword that turned every way to guard the way to the tree of life.
Psalm 119:25–28 ESV
My soul clings to the dust; give me life according to your word! When I told of my ways, you answered me; teach me your statutes! Make me understand the way of your precepts, and I will meditate on your wondrous works. My soul melts away for sorrow; strengthen me according to your word!
1 John 1:5–7 ESV
This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.
Revelation 22:1–2 ESV
Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb through the middle of the street of the city; also, on either side of the river, the tree of life with its twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit each month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
Man is loved by God – ; ;
Genesis 1:29–30 ESV
And God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food. And to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the heavens and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have given every green plant for food.” And it was so.
Genesis 2:8–9 ESV
And the Lord God planted a garden in Eden, in the east, and there he put the man whom he had formed. And out of the ground the Lord God made to spring up every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
John 3:16 ESV
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
Theme of the Bible – the Messiah
Most important message of Old Testament is the Messiah –
Genesis 3:15 ESV
I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.”
Most important message of the gospels is the Messiah –
John 8:24 ESV
I told you that you would die in your sins, for unless you believe that I am he you will die in your sins.”
Most important message of the rest of the New Testament is how the Messiah brings man back to God –
Acts 2:36 ESV
Let all the house of Israel therefore know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.”

II) Bible prophecy is consistent

Biblical prophecies have always been complex and detailed – – like Cyrus to deliver the Jews, or the downfall of Tyre
Isaiah 44:28 ESV
who says of Cyrus, ‘He is my shepherd, and he shall fulfill all my purpose’; saying of Jerusalem, ‘She shall be built,’ and of the temple, ‘Your foundation shall be laid.’ ”
Messianic and kingdom prophecies are consistent and detailed – – human, seed of Abram, nation of Israel, tribe of Judah, seed of David
Acts 3:24 ESV
And all the prophets who have spoken, from Samuel and those who came after him, also proclaimed these days.
Prophets today are rarely complex, rarely detailed, and rarely true – Jeanne Dixon, Nostradamus, etc.
Concl: Bible was written by 40 different authors over a period of 1600 years in 3 different languages from different cultures and educational backgrounds. Yet it all agrees in ideas of God, man, doctrine, and purpose.
