(NLT) — 4 When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Now go out where it is deeper, and let down your nets to catch some fish.” 5 “Master,” Simon replied, “we worked hard all last night and didn’t catch a thing. But if you say so, I’ll let the nets down again.” 6 And this time their nets were so full of fish they began to tear!
MAIN POINT- What has Jesus asked you to do that you are waiting for him to do?
QUESTION- Is it possible that the miracle you have been waiting God to perform in your life is the thing he has asked you to go and do?
MAIN QUESTION- Why are you waiting???
Could you imagine if Jesus came up to Simon and said, “I want you to come follow me.” Then he showed him this miracle by causing thousands of fish to just appear in his boat. They just started jumping in… He could have done that…
Or wonder if Jesus said, “follow me.” and Peter said Ok but you have to show me a sign, make my boat full of fish. And Jesus said ok go put out your nets and Peter said no let me catch the fish first.
That obviously wouldn’t make any sense, but yet for many of us God has given us instruction and we have waited and waited before following thru and when asked why are we waiting your reply is I’m just waiting on God… I’m waiting for the catch of fish before I put out the nets… I’m waiting for my miracle before I follow in obedience.
Why do we wait on God to do what he asked us to do?

1. We’re tiered

I just want to talk to someone who is warn out - It’s not that you have given up on those dreams but you are just trying to muster the strength to get out of bed…
5 “Master,” Simon replied, “we worked hard all last night
DEFINE- The Greek word for worked hard is this word kopiao this word means to do wearisome labor to extreme fatigue, to trouble oneself, to loose heart.
KEY- Keep in mind getting the nets out was a whole process and it was an even bigger proses to put them away.
But when the winter of life sets it and the light gets less and less we grow so so tiered…

2. We tried

5 “Master,” Simon replied, “we worked hard all last night and didn’t catch a thing.
DEFINE- The Greek word for didn’t catch a thing is oudeis and it means a quantity of no importance.
In other words last time we tried it was not worth it.
Think about Elijah…
Listen if you are more concerned with your results than you are your obedience you will cripple your purpose.
QUESTION- Have you crippled your purpose by looking at results?

3. We forgot

5 “Master,” Simon replied, “we worked hard all last night and didn’t catch a thing. But if you say so…
QUESTION- Have you forgotten what he told you, you can do?
Who was responsible for this miraculous catch of fish? Well of course Jesus brought the supernatural but Peter brought the natural… Have you forgotten what is possible when you DO what he asked you to?

Conclusion…

Fisherman in that day did not fish in the deep water they fished in the shallow water.
You not only need to do the thing he asked you to do to see your miracle you need to do it in the place he asked you to do it.
POINT- His word mattered more than the result or even promise.
