Scripture Reading

Lord, who can dwell in your tent?
Who can live on your holy mountain?
The one who lives blamelessly, practices righteousness,
and acknowledges the truth in his heart—
who does not slander with his tongue,
who does not harm his friend
or discredit his neighbor,
who despises the one rejected by the Lord
but honors those who fear the Lord,
who keeps his word whatever the cost,
who does not lend his silver at interest
or take a bribe against the innocent—
the one who does these things will never be shaken.

Message - No One Measures Up…

Our Question
What must I do to inherit eternal life
Rich Young Ruler
Obey the commands
Sell all you have
He went away sad
We justify… I am not as bad as that person
Our Question
Funerals always get people thinking about life and death
What must I do to inherit eternal life
Nicodemus - had a very similar question
Jesus told him that you must be born again
This is the question that comes to mind with the loss of a loved one
we come face to face with our own mortality
We justify… I am not as bad as that person
Psalmist’s Question
Who can dwell in your tent, or live on your mountain?
tent - means tabernacle
OT ark of the covenant between the cheribum
what he is asking, who can live in the presence of God
Only the High Priest would be able to enter the presence of God..
extremely tedious list of things that had to be done simply to enter the presence of God
but this wasn’t just to enter, this was to dwell or live
to live
he knew the criteria
those that are perfect
v2 - The one who lives blamelessly
complete perfection
He is not asking who is perfect… but if this is the standard, then who could possibly be saved
For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God
we think about how much tim
Psalmist’s Answer
The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Wages - something earned… Our sin earns us eternal life in Hell
Our Question

God’s Answer
For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.
God demonstrates his love for us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Coming to christ does not simply solve our sin problem, he is also the great comforter
At times of loss we all need comforting, we all need to grieve
