What is a kingdom?

A. A country, a state or a territory ruled by a king or a queen.
B. A governing impact of a kings will over a territory or a domain
C. A territory governed or ruled by a king
D. There are things that every kingdom has
must have a king
every king is automatically a Lord
A king must have a territory/domain
King-Dom
a constitution
a covenant
a community of subjects
A law
a set of principles
a set of standards
II. Last 5
A. Priveledges
rights and benefits afforded by the king
because of these rights and royal priveledges people desire to be citizens of a kingdom
rights enjoyed by a citizen
by being faithful and righteous
ex. MPH
B. Code of ethics
Social and moral standards
Social relationships
personal conduct
attitude
personal
to the king
to the kingdom
attire/the way one dresses
a way of life
this is the conduct of the citizens
how they act in the kingdom
how they represent the kingdom
C. Army
Security
this is how the king protects his citizens and his territory
As citizens of the kingdom, they don’t fight in the army
rather they enjoy the protection of the army
the angels are the host of heaven
they are the army
the word saboath (hebrew) refers to the army of angels
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,
The Holy Bible: English Standard Version. (2016). (). Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles.
this word identities the angels as the so called military component of the kingdom of heaven
the ecclessia/the church/the citizenry are not the army
they are not an army but a family
D. Social culture
environment created by the king
lifestyle and behavior created by the king
culture of the kingdom expresses the stature of the king
lifestyle and behavior of citizens represents kingdom and kings
E. Economics of the kingdom
the commonwealth
the economic environment of the kingdom
the lack of abundance of the kingdom separates one from another
We use the word commonwealth because the ultimate desire of the king is that all of his citizens share and benefit from the wealth of the kingdom
ie. commonwealth is used
the health and the happiness of the kingdom is determined through the commonwealth
Luke 12:22–23 ESV
And he said to his disciples, “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat, nor about your body, what you will put on. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing.
luke 12:22-2
Luke 12:31–32 ESV
Instead, seek his kingdom, and these things will be added to you. “Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
Matthew 6:33 ESV
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
III. Close
A. It is all these things that represent the kingdom
B. It is all these things that represents the king
C. The reputation of the king
E. Desires to share all this with his citizens
F. Gods intention of creation
create a family
to benefit
to have authority
to have dominion
but there is a key to all this
our definitions seem to differ just a bit
the difference between family and first seem to differ compared to his
Genesis 1:26 ESV
Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
God said let us create man in our image and after our likeness
Then he goes a step farther and says lets give them dominion over all the earth
the earth is your kingdom
if you didnt realize it you are kings and queens
and with all this he asks for one thing
to be a priority
to be first
but again our definition differs
but the word of God is quite clear
“No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money
The Holy Bible: English Standard Version. (2016). (). Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles.
there is a disconnection somewhere
somewhere we got it wrong
now dont missunderstand me here
i am not saying that you have to be perfect to enjoy the benefits of the kingdom
no one is perfect except one that i know
the bible gives us rules and regulations to follow if we want a prosperous life
matt 6:33 says FIRST
the definition of first is formost in place, coming before all others
some synonyms are initial, original, fundamental, head, inaugural, primary
See god and his kingdom should be first thought
should be first in our lives
yet we are too busy wanting him to make us and our desires a priority, yet we don’t make him a priority
And by putting him and his kingdom first we shall benefit from the blessings of his kingdom
his initial intentions from creation
