Creator - v2

Never slumbers - v3-4

1 Kings 18:27 ESV
And at noon Elijah mocked them, saying, “Cry aloud, for he is a god. Either he is musing, or he is relieving himself, or he is on a journey, or perhaps he is asleep and must be awakened.”

Your keeper - v5-8

stability and safety
from (sun, moon, evil)
your life
your going and coming
It is unquestionable that God is the rightful place to look for help, so how do we look to him, and do we?

Look in the scriptures -

θεόπνευστος
2 Peter 1:20–21 ESV
knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone’s own interpretation. For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
So when we look to Scripture, we are looking to God; we are being answered and led by the Holy Spirit.

Wise for salvation

Methodologies and traditions are NOT able to make one wise to salvation, but Holy Scripture is!
The Need
Romans 7:7 ESV
What then shall we say? That the law is sin? By no means! Yet if it had not been for the law, I would not have known sin. For I would not have known what it is to covet if the law had not said, “You shall not covet.”
The answer
Acts 4:11–12 ESV
This Jesus is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone. And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
Acts 4:12 ESV
And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
The method
Mark 1:15 ESV
and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”

Equipping saints

The PEOPLE of God
COMPLETE
EQUIPPED
Whether for soul salvation, or for the life of a believer, our help can only come from God, therefore look to God in looking in the scriptures

Look in Prayer -

Jesus does NOT advise bothering God
You cannot bug God into listening
2 Corinthians 12:8–9 ESV
Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
Jesus CONTRASTS the lowly motivations of the unrighteous judge with God
Jesus PUTS the question where it belongs; do we look in prayer?
Exodus 3:7 ESV
Then the Lord said, “I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters. I know their sufferings,
- manna
- water
- God relents at Moses’ prayer
James 4:2–3 ESV
You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions.
James 4:2 ESV
You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask.
1 John 5:14 ESV
And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us.
Look to God in prayer
Look to God in prayer; we are gifted with direct access and directed to boldy go to the throne to obtain mercy that we need!

Look to the hill of Calvary

Gospel to the lost
Jesus died and was raised because we fail to look to God in scripture and in prayer.
Jesus died and was raised to enable us to look to God in scripture and in prayer.
God is the source of life, love, and all our help in this life and the next. May God help us to remember and to look to Him in His Word and in Prayer, and may we ever lift our eyes to the hill of Calvary.
