How do I/we all struggle with this?
Have you ever Googled anything?
Have you ever been asked to Google something?
Did you want to smack them?
Have you ever Googled anything?
Have you ever been asked to Google something?
Did you want to smack them?
The term google is synonymous with search in our culture today.
Some love it, some hate it.
Either way, I believe it is here to stay.
I make sure my students know how to use a dictionary and encyclopedia but let’s face it, it is a lost art.
Our kids don’t look anything up in books anymore.
The term google is synonimous with search in our culture today.
google = search
If someone searched your life, what would they find?
Your phone or computer?
Your tv/movie/music history.
What if someone could search your heart or your mind?
What would they find?
If what crosses our minds flashed up on these screens here, I don’t believe too many of us would be very comfortable.
What does the Bible say about this?
The Bible says that God has searched us.
He knows every one of our thoughts just like He is watching our life as a tv show.
Talk about reality TV.
This Psalm is attributed to David.
Psalm 39
v1 God searches and knows us
This Psalm is attributed to David.
If I were to paraphrase these verses I would say, “Lord, you have searched me and you know me.”
vs 2-3 God always sees us
v 4 He hears everything we say
David understands that God has him covered in every direction.
God’s hand on him is letting him know that God will take care of him.
Seen by God
No matter which way to travel.
God is there.
God is with us.
David understands that God has him covered in every direction.
God’s hand on him is letting him know that God will take care of him.No matter which way to travel.
God is there.
God is with us.
You can not run from God.
You can not run from God.
This can be incredibly frightening or immeasurable comforting.
You cannot hide your deeds from God.
In the brightest light or the deepest darkness, you cannot hide anything from the Lord.
You and I are God’s creation.
We have been “remarkably and wondrously made.”
You are no mistake.
Pause right here and think about this.
The sum of everything God knows is immeasurable, so don’t even try.
How many people would like to have their lives play on these screens in front of us?
Psalm 139:19-
David wanted to escape the influence of the wicked.
Every sin.
every thought.
Concluding with an appeal for God to search me (cp.
v. 1), the psalmist submitted his thoughts and motives (concerns) to the Lord’s scrutiny.
He asked God to reveal any offensive way (lit “way of hardship”) in him.
every show or movie we ever watched.
Talk about reality tv.
People would really know us then.
That is a glimpse of how well Jesus knows us.
The Lord knows that time when you just couldn’t go any further and you had to sit down.
He knows that time when you were so tired but you stood up because someone you love needed you.
He knows the time you were to stand because of a need but you chose to sit down.
He knows your every though…EVERY THOUGHT.
Are you squirming in your seat yet?
He knows and watches everywhere you go and when you go there.
Before you even say a word, He knows the words you are going to say.
He has googled us and He knows everything about us.
Psalm 139
Pursued by God
When you were a child and you felt a hand on your shoulder.
You either felt braver or you knew you were in trouble.
That is how we are with are heavenly Father.
Fashioned by God
He knows your every though…EVERY THOUGHT.
Are you squirming in your seat yet?
He knows and watches everywhere you go and when you go there.
Please understand you are God’s masterpiece.
I love your thoughts
Before you even say a word, He knows the words you are going to say.
Psalm 139:
I hate your enemies
Psalm 139:
David is proclaiming that God’s enemies are his enemies.
Well, I thought the Bible taught us not to hate?
Good question.
What David is talking about here is that David has decided to reject them, to disavow any association with them.
When someone sins, we are not suppose to to just let it go.
We must stand and say “I will have nothing to do with what you are choosing to do.”
Invitation to Intimacy
David is asking the Lord here to “google” him.
To search him and if He finds anything there that shouldn’t be there, lead him away from it.
