Doubt
John 20:24–31 NIV
24 Now Thomas (also known as Didymus), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. 25 So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.” 26 A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” 27 Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.” 28 Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!” 29 Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” 30 Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. 31 But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.
Doubt - a feeling of uncertainty or lack of conviction;
to be in doubt is to be of two minds, unsure of what to believe.
Your uncertainty is an invitation to discovery.

Jesus invites Thomas to explore His wounds. To stop doubting and believe. God is not afraid of your doubt and unbelief. Thomas asked to see and touch his wounds. See his nail holes, put his finger in his nail holes, and to put his hand into the wound on Jesus’s side.
Thomas is a good example in many ways. He refused to say he understood when he didn’t, he refused to pretend to believe when he didn’t. And when he did understand and believe, he went all the way and properly called Jesus Lord and God.
Jesus wants to invade our lives when were locked up in unbelief.

Doubt

1. In our doubt we live in fear.
James 1:6–8 NLT
6 But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. 7 Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8 Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do.
2. In our doubt we become a restless wanderer.
Genesis 4:12–14 NIV
12 When you work the ground, it will no longer yield its crops for you. You will be a restless wanderer on the earth.” 13 Cain said to the Lord, “My punishment is more than I can bear. 14 Today you are driving me from the land, and I will be hidden from your presence; I will be a restless wanderer on the earth, and whoever finds me will kill me.”
Cain was driven from the land he became a “restless wanderer.”
Restless: denied rest, continuously moving, unrest especially of mind
2 Peter 2:14 NLT
14 They commit adultery with their eyes, and their desire for sin is never satisfied. They lure unstable people into sin, and they are well trained in greed. They live under God’s curse.
3. In our doubt we become prey.
John 20:28 NIV
28 Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!”

Belief

1. We must be certain that He is Lord.
This confession of certainty removes all doubt.
Mark 9:24 NIV
24 Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!”
2. We don’t walk by what we see but by what we hear.
2 Corinthians 5:7 NLT
7 For we live by believing and not by seeing.
People who are blind really do have enhanced abilities in their other senses, according to a new, small study.
In addition, the scans revealed that people who are blind also experienced enhancements in other areas, including in their memory and language abilities,
Such brain changes arise because the brain has a "plastic" quality, meaning that it can make new connections among neurons, the study said.
"Even in the case of being profoundly blind, the brain rewires itself in a manner to use the information at its disposal so that it can interact with the environment in a more effective manner,"
What if our brains could remap from our faith. By hearing the word of God? Romans 10:17
3. We must begin to believe and continue to believe.
Romans 10:17 NLT
17 So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.
Hebrews 11:6 NIV
6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
4. Believe that God is a rewarder.
1 Peter 1:8 NIV
8 Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy,
